That sucks. It could always be worse. I had some pretty expensive tools and my iPod in there. They also left the roof bars with front fairing, 2 of them don't even lock. I'm sure they didn't want to be there longer than they had to be and just took the rack.

I found a guy on CL with the same set up minus the fairing, sent him an email.

I'm pretty pissed, but there's not much else I can do other than this and work on getting another one but making it a lot harder to take off.

CL post was made a week ago and is 4hrs away so there's no way it could be mine; hopefully I can get a decent deal on it though.

Yeah, its pretty depressing. I've had a fair amount of stuff stolen from me, and it never gets any easier. I hate set backs, but all you can do is overcome them and move on.

My car got stolen by a druggie who was only 16, had 8 previous offenses and was supposed to appear in court that morning.

He ended up crashing into a light pole after police tried pulling him over after I reported a stolen vehicle.

Not stolen but someone loosed my lug nuts. The next day, on the highway i heard rattling in the rear wheels. So I stopped my car and i could unscrew my lug nuts with my hands. Fucking teenage retards.

Since living in a ghetto, I learned to check every crevice of my car before even starting it. If something smells funny, if the lug nuts are loose, if anything looks out of place I inspect it. Between getting my car stolen and vandalized, I'm very close to setting fire to the obamahomes which got built a block away from me.

I think I should buy those anti theft lug nuts.

I've luckily never had to live around minorities enough to have shit stolen. When I'm out with anything valuable in my car (ie. Handguns) I watch it like a fucking hawk.

They mount at four points to the rails with a clamp and knobs that thread on. I'm really kicking myself for not making it more secure, but I live in a just about the only good neighborhood in Baltimore, but alas, its still Baltimore...

My buddy's Miata was broken into once while it was parked in the driveway of his house. The thieves cut the top to get into the car. They stole about 2 bucks in change and a burned CD of Appetite for Destruction. A new top was stupidly expensive.

At my university, the campus was basically an oasis of stuff to be stolen by a certain minority group. While it is technically unfair to single out a minority group without evidence, in this case, it was HIGHLY significantly true. That's because there were almost no blacks registered as students. Yet, the campus had quite a few black people wandering around even at night.

The things they looked for were loose things that could be removed from autos and your backpack or wallet with Student ID card. The student ID card has a mag stripe and you can enter certain buildings with it or replace the picture by slicing the card thus be able to flash it as ID to people who don't physically examine the card in their own hands. With that stolen ID, they can move around until it's reported as stolen. So that's why after stealing it, they quickly invade some buildings to see what they can steal by picking door locks for some rooms.

Some have tried to tailgate me into buildings and I've almost come to fights with some saying it was none of my business to keep them out or they pull the racist card. I say, okay, let's get campus police to see if i am racist and I start to call. Only once did the black guy try to grab, but usually they all run off. ZERO of them were students from personal experience when they tailgated me entering a secure area.

Academy City in the anime series ToAru Index had the right idea to restrict access to the campus without being racist with their Trump Wall. Why can't we do that for most parts of the campus?
