Hammers hitboxes in general are a little fucked for some reason in gen.

I've noticed the same thing. Spinning meteor in particular can whif completly and still hit, while sometimes lv2 uppercut will slide alongside the monsters face doing nothing.

Because your reward for gaining red gauge is that you lose it completely with no way to refresh it, and the monster can quite literally waste your entire red gauge by fucking around underground or by running away.

The aside is why. You can solo the game with whatever weapon you want, but for online play, LS trips people and pisses them off since they can't attack. Damage was fine and it had good tail cutting potential.

the tradeoff for that is that all your other meter stages (even meterless) were buffed
