What are Veeky Forums's thoughts on the 240sx?

Pretty shit unless you like modyfying everythang.

Pretty much this.
They're ugly as fuck stock

That was the plan. Are they hard to find in decent shape, though?

The coupe looks better than the hatch

The S13?
180SX and 200SX are better than the 240SX, if you're an Americlap you should import since they're less likely to be held together with cable ties.

the only people who think this are people who get stuck with coupes.

Sileighty is best looking S13.

garbage car that needs thousands to be decent in terms of looks and performance

this too

Drift slut

word association thread?
>rust

sx stands for super extreme, right?

Depending on where you live but yes & with the drift tax it's overall not worth it anymore.

Shit taste.

Great platform for whatever you want to build, but very few clean examples left with prices of cars & parts going up.
S13 is a floppier chassis then S14 & S15, but can be solved with bracing & stitch welding to be made just as stiff & built as a lighter car, but for alot more effort.
Stock KA's need boost to make power, but will need to be built to make over 300hp reliably if you want to daily. Bolt on SR's can walk LT1 fbodys and 4.6 Mustang GT's with stock turbo & more boost, aswel as being able to take alot of abuse on stock internal as long as you run the right support mods & make sure you don't sarve it of oil.

Also an important thing. If you want to buy one to modify, buy one that's already molested. There's already low stock of originals, & your idea of "sick mawdz" is molestation to anyone else.

i could say the same thing about people that are stuck with hatchbacks

A buddy of mine has one making 400+ horsepower oUT of a built SR20. It's specifically built for drifting. It's not a bad platform if you are planning on dumping 10k into a car, but if you're looking for something that's fun stock, this isn't it.

Shitbox
>guaranteed cracked strut towers
>rusted away rockers
>rusted subframe
>Rusted wheel arches
>shit engine unless sr20det swap
>putting lipstick on a pig
>wet noodle chassis

The ONLY good thing was that they were cheap to buy so you could mod them to your heart's content. Now there's this retarded cult following driving the price up, but it's a joke. The car gained popularity because it was cheap, now you see people trying to sell them for 5-10k on Craigslist that sit there for months because people think it's not a shit box.

case in point why RWD>FWD.
it's a distinctly average car saved by it's drivetrain.
FR is the only reason people give a shit about them

>spun a bearing
>MINT rolling shell
>rewelded strut towers need more welded metal
>turbo leaks but ezfix
>oil in coolant overflow but ezfix
>6k FIRM, NO LOW BALLERS NO I WILL NOT TRADE FOR YOUR CIVIC
>tags, trade for 350z, s2000

...

>180SX and 200SX are better than the 240SX
>let's purposely choose a lower displacement engine

>muh cubes
>muh truck engined car

Typical that Americans think that higher displacement = better engine...

>muh displacement
The 240SX has a shit Mexican-made truck engine.
Both the 180 and 200 have better engines that are both lighter and produce more power.

> it's so easy that I don't want to do it.

>I must remind them

hard as fuck to find clean ones or decent ones with little rust (at least where i live)

I'm the second owner of an unmodified S13 hatch. Bought it with 52k miles. I hated it as a sports car, but after I realized I'll never want to modify this or swap out the auto tranny(which, is honestly very good), it's a very decent DD. It has all the amenities I'll ever need or use, the hatch lets me haul all my shit I'll ever need to carry. MPG is decent, power is just enough to merge. Been on the edge of selling it for the last few years though, I would hate to see this thing become a drift missile.

cool car to have, but they're all getting destroyed or modded out the ass that getting one is becoming hard, unless you want some beat to shit roller

GM fangirl detected

Fun platform but way too overhyped

Overpriced and almost all of them are "modded"

nope. Nice try though

Honestly, you put good parts in them and take care of them, you get good results.

The problem is, the vast majority have fallen into the hands of complete retards, mostly kids. They fuck them up real bad.

Also the US market is now entirely saturated with bullshit china parts.

I have easily over 40k into my S14. It's an interesting feeling having the only nice 240 in a 300 mile radius.

Decent b8 m8

light weight flywheels and driveshafts apparently wakes them up so the forums say. will buy a lightweight fidanza flywheel and aluminum driveshaft for my shitbox and best of all its reusable in the Dohc versions too if i ever need it.

but they will still be slow as shit compared to todays cars, although it still might beat a brz/frs lol

ive had both the coupe and (autotragic )hatch versions and can say the hatch is more usable and looks better with the pop ups but the coupe (which i have now) needs the silvia front end swap. it just dont look right.

however both will need money to make or look better or in most cases work as intended

people need to stop turning them into drift missiles

its the official car of "it's not ready yet" and every boy racer's project car.

I still see them on the road where I live in NC and in the past 10yrs I have not seen one stock or "complete"... they're always missing a fender, bumper, has multi-paint panels/doors, is primer gray and fading from yrs of neglecting to paint.

the best one ive see was a blue one, no front end. But it had a nice intercooler and wide ass wheel/tire combo, like 225's or something wider.

the worst ive seen is like stated above, primed for pain, steel wheels painted black, no exhaust but black stain on bumper. Sounds like the engine has been ran into the ground and has seal issues.

>wide ass wheel/tire combo, like 225's
And here I thought my 245's on all 4 still weren't enough tire

aluminum is a terrible material for a driveshaft

S13 interior makes me cum buckets

They'd be awesome cars for young people if there wasn't a rice tax. So many cars are ruined because of people.

they might be if they were on the right size wheel.

why is every single s13 haggard as fuck

They're 9's, not that stretched, but could fit a bigger tire. Just a weird angle in that pic that makes them loom stretched & cambered when I only have -1.8 degrees in the rear.
Because I can't be arsed to get a paint job till I finish body work & aero.

because they all been wrecked by people trying to drift and the owners are to poor to get matching body panels

that's what happens when you try to combine project car and daily driver. nothing ever gets done.

hooollyyy shit those seamless seats

came

thank you user

Flippy headlights.
Other than that it's not good for anything until you spend more than the car's worth on a motorswap and sick mawdz.

>Because I can't be arsed to get a paint job till I finish body work & aero.
So what you'll finish in 3 years? I wanted one a few years ago then my gf talked to me out of it saying how fucking haggard it looks everytime she sees one and fuck me side ways I agreed with her even though she knows fuck all about cars.

My car was one color last year, and I was gonna repaint it white, but instead I decided to go widebody & type x. I've just continued to put off paint as I keep doing other things that would effect paint progress & require a respray, so rather then getting it painted multiple times, I've just not bothered with it since it's not important.

s13 has the best interior of any car. Period

>tfw I want a LS 240 so bad

...

>Are they hard to find in decent shape, though?
yes even the ones that are fucked up will still go for over $4k

...

>LS
Just please ruin your shitty 240SX' instead of importing 180SX' and butchering them.

If it has a CA18det then who cares

I don't own a S13 yet, but I plan to. Also as funny as it seems it would be cheaper to buy a base Silva (N/A and automatic) and import it than try to find an unfucked 240 chassis here. The only problem is I really want flip up lights and hatchback, but 180's only came turbo so they are more expensive to import. I'm sure I could trade some fag with a 240 front ends though and just live with it being a coupe.

is anybody else having a hard time finding any and then all of a sudden you look again a month or so later and theres a good 8-9 under $2k with no rust
this keeps happening to me

Just plastidip it

Overpriced when a non turbo is as slow as a miata. Non modified clean ones are worth more than better cars.
