first for LEWD

Thank you for removing the advertisements from the OP

3rd for pointer arithmetic

How simple do you want it to be? Because something along the lines of Urban Champion, or Yie ar Kung Fu would be pretty easy, and I would say pretty nice as a short time project.

>Tfw your whole game is full of shitty looking graphics because "I'll change it later"

So this is the power of Unreal!

Both the lewd and stealth jam pages have stupid descriptions and completely lack any style, there's not even a banner with the AGDG logo.
This is disgraceful, fix those jams.

The sidebar especially, but the buttons to a lesser extent. Like, you've got a very minimalist, clean art style in the game itself, and then you've got diagonal neon button prompts and some sort of grainy brick wall looking sidebar. I don't even know that you should have the sidebar cover a whole side of the screen like that.

>stupid descriptions

in what way

Now cameras can be limited to whatever polygons I feel like which works a lot better than rails do in sections like this where it needs to bend around a sharp corner.

>repostan
The red background is now pulsating slightly

imma make a dark souls clone!

will you release a collector's edition?
gamespot.com/articles/this-battlefield-1-collectors-edition-costs-130-do/1100-6442383/

I think that my game will automatically become a collectors item

>This jam is for sole consumption by the association of anonymous, psuedonymous, tripfagging or namefagging individuals (Community), who post on the websites Veeky Forums.org, tumblr.com, discordapp.com, and reddit.com/r/gamedev, known as the Amateur Game Dev General (AGDG).
Filling the description with 90% unrelated shit

>In addition, just for fun, a special lewd mystery prize (!) will be awarded to the developer of the highest rated submission when the jam ends.
>highest rated submission
/agdg/ jams have never had ratings and should never have ratings. It's always just been for fun, not dick stroking "winners".

>implying I will release anything

you're a salty guy

the compos had winners and prizes

>"Finally, my game is complete"
>burn it on one disc
>delete all files
>release the disc into the wild
It will be the ultimate collector's item.

Might do a DVD or CD ROM release for my game to give it an extra retro feel

also wew. my first """"texture""""

...

But it's not, can't you count?

...

...

...

Progress:
This will probably be the final look and speed of the sun rising animation, but the characters' palettes will be a little brighter in the daylight.
Villagers and Hunter probably will get a "praise the sun" animation too

Man I suck at spriting.

...

Not him but stealth jam's description is actually pretty cringy. is trying to hard to be funny and "so randum xD"

Lewd Jam failed with the prize thing. That's the kind of thing that only generates drama. If a game with good art and bad gameplay "wins" people will complain that we only care about art in games. If an ugly looking game with good gameplay wins people will complain that we choose a bad game because is not appealing to their dicks, then people will start complaining that the prize was rigged and we will have to deal with all that circlejerking drama shitposting for months.

its a _small_ mystery prize 100% for fun
you are really taking things way too seriously

Welcome to AGDG. There will be drama.

>they said lewd was rigged
>was almost a tie

>you are really taking things way too seriously
welcome to /agdg/, except when it comes to actually making your game

...

...

>he believes all people that joins uploads a game
how's your first jam, user?

spacejam had 100 people joining and only 15 games though

>he thinks people can upload games to the jam without joining the jam

Can't wait
>100 joined
>5 games tops
Accept the facts. Most of the lewd voters have on intention of making a game.
They're horny nodevs who want to play lewd games made by someone else. Some even came out and admitted to it.

ok

but there's [1] participant in stealth jam

>he just proved he is new to agdg jams
welcome, user, hope you have fun.
and see this

enjoy your 1 game best case scenario

That's because the link is either hidden under a spoiler or put in a different part of the OP post like last time so people don't notice it.

should I join the stealth jam to boost the stats or just continue with my own game?

you could say
its stealthed

"join jam" literally does nothing but show a counter of how many people "joined". You can submit a game whether you "joined" or not.

In fact I have never "joined" a jam, I always just submit my game during the jam.

let's boost the stats i'm thinking of making a few dummy accounts and joining too

This is the average lewd voter.
>doesn't know how james work
>doesn't have a game
>probable doesn't have an itch.io account either

Game jams are for losers with shit games, continue with your actual good game

Faggot nodev.

Don't join if you don't plan on making a game for it.

now try doing it and not joining the jam

If you're going to shitpost, at least do it about something that can lead to productive discussion, like OOP.

this is the average stealth voter

I'm thinking about doing that too.
I just got a small idea that could work, it would be a really simple game and will look ugly as fuck but why not?

How do I start making a game? Do I need a computer?

not him but I'd still like to try and collab with a team

pic related is the average lewd poster's game

Stop it guys

post stealth progress

ok

Its not that bad

post lewd progress

hello friends here I am again to show you all the extraordinary progress I am currently making with my amazing video game
youtube.com/watch?v=WZ7oraxt_MQ
thanks and god bless

>Don't join if you don't plan on making a game for it.
I meant boosting the stats = boosting the number of games

reminds me of Jet Set Radio at least. youtube.com/watch?v=8VyaShl6urc

nah, jams are pretty good. Here are my stats, it's purely from /agdg/ game jams and a couple non-/agdg/ jams, nothing else.

Do I need a computer to make games?

sprites are ok, background color is killing my eyes tho

No, you can make games on your phone.

not at all

1-4 sleep
5-8 continue deving until I pass out
9 video games
0 watch movie

Nope, all you need is a play station 1

close your eyes then

Those things are just small computers.

I mean can I write my game on paper and send it to Microsoft or Nintendo and they'll compile it?

Generic 2D platformer progress
+ Reads level from .txt file
+ Basic movement (left, right, jump)
+ Player constrained within level size
- Blocks 'outside' the screen are rendered(no noticeable performance hit yet)
- Physics are affected by current fps
- No block collision detection

board games

no, that's not what I mean. games are just a set of rules, you don't need a computer to enforce them, you just have to convince the players to follow them.

games have existed for way longer than computers, I'm sure you'll manage

Of course you can. They probably get a few every year from 5 year olds who think they're game designers.

or try

Inane question which gets all the (You)s because everyone loves sharing their inane opinions?

>no collision

what are you waiting for!

I want to make a video game, but not to use a computer (including consoles and phones) to do it.

You want to be an ideas man.

better grab a soldering iron and some transistors

I can program

No, you can't. Stop lying.

frankly I'm surprised you've gotten as many (You)s as you have.

I work as a software developer. I want to make games in my spare time, but I don't want to have to stare at a screen to do it.

On it family just gotta restructure my shitty code, all is contained within one file and is a pain to work with as is

do this man
you can program your game logic directly on the circuit boards without using a computer

whatever helps me avoid making progress

I guess I'm popular here. It feels nice.

To elaborate: I want to protect my eyes, spending 8 hours looking at a screen is bad enough, I don't want to do more.

...

f.lux

that's way easier. just do what blind people do to use computers

And yet you're here, shitposting on Veeky Forums. Why do I not believe you?

That's true, would anyone play it though?

I already have it, but thank you for the tip.

I'm at work, slacking off, of course.
