So i bought an e39 about a month ago and it needs to be fixed up because the previous spic owner was too poor to do any maintenance and just wanted a good looking car.
it needs the valve cover gaskets replaced, belts changed, and the brakes got soft one day so i need to hopefully just bleed the brakes, since the guy claimed to have just replaced the pads.
my question is how do i do a brake job on this car? i've honestly never worked on a car ever but everything else has tutorials online and im not a complete idiot. any help would honestly be appreciated since i havent been able to drive the fucking car since it isnt safe. thanks

also, ive noticed a really dangerous thing that happens sometimes. i'll be driving and when i try to come to a stop, the car would just turn off. the lights flicker but come back on but the engine stays off. this is really dangerous because it could easily cause an accident.
I've done some research and saw it could be the ignition switch failing but wanted a second opinion or to see if anyone has had this happen. really fucked issue.

You're worse than the previous spic for buying it. What you couldn't tell if the cover is leaking?

idc about a leaking valve cover, i can change that easily, its about the other things that i didnt know about

Yet you're asking "HOW2DO BRAEKZ" Look it up on Google, follow the steps, be very careful, triple check your work before putting the car in motion.

ok i obviously have tried google and wanted someone that actually knows how to do it on an e39, not some dipshit trip called "E320withabodykit" to try and act superior. thanks for your help faggo

Did you not take it on a test drive? What the fuck is wrong with you? You should always buy the nicest example of a car you can find. You're going to spend on repairs what you saved by getting a beat up example.

nothing is wrong with me, of course i took it on a test drive. it happens rarely and randomly so the seller got lucky. the funny thing about it, is that this was pretty much the best e39 i could find, no matter the price.
i just want some help from someone pls

>i've honestly never worked on a car ever Then you definitely shouldn't be fucking around with a system as important as brakes for your first proper wrenching session.
If the car is having an intermittent failure of power then it's gotta be throwing a code. Get that fucker read with an OBDII scanner.
