Ticket thread

>back in January be on cell phone on my way after work to go get some pussy
>get pulled over give cop my license
>find out my license was suspended for not providing insurance at an accident a year before
>but I did.
>cop hands me my license back and gives me a cellphone ticket and an "unlicensed driver" ticket not a suspended license ticket.
>6 months later finally get notice in mail
>CVC 12500(a) unlawful to drive unless licensed
>CVC 23123(a) driving while using a wireless telephone not configured for hands free use
>mfw both violations combined are 563.00$
Well then

Shameless self bump

>Get pulled over
>speeding 85 in a 70
>no registration
>no insurance
>car has no drivers window
>right taillight is out
>no exhaust
>told to just go home

>honestly not bragging

I've had my license for 3 years and have yet to be ticketed.
I don't drive like too much of an ass. But eh.

I've been pulled over because my headlight was out on my POS 98 civic.

-knock on wood-

Get a lawyer, get shit reduced or thrown out, keep points off your license and insurance, pay way less than 563 dollars

>pay 100 dollars on ticket
>now pay 4000 dollars for lawyer

>pay way less than 563 dollars

How much would that lawyer cost? Not OP btw.

>thinks hiring a traffic lawyer costs 4000 dollars

Jesus christ, most traffic lawyers have about a 100 dollar retainer for standard traffic ticket bullshit, provided it wasn't reckless driving or you killed someone

>wife pulled over for 50 in a 35 coming home from work
>gets 325 dollar ticket from Chapel Hill police
>get traffic attorney for 90 dollars
>takes ticket to court and gets it thrown out and fess reduced
>pay lawyer 90 bucks and 27 dollars in court cost
>117 vs 325, no points on license or insurance

OP here, honestly i want to contest the unlicesed driver ticket because at the time of my accident i did provide insurance. 2 days after i got both tickets i called the dmv office and they told me in order for me to get my license un suspended i would have to provide my policy number and when it was effective. i gave her both and my license was unsuspended in .0003 seconds over the phone. she told me my license was suspended in september 2015 my accident was june 2015 and i got pulled over january 2016 and now here we are.

since i have 2 tickets does that mean 2 points?

how do you not notice your headlight is out?

Another reason to just get a traffic lawyer, throw him 100, and have him sweep it all up for you. If the DMV was able to get your shit straightened out in 2 seconds on the phone a decent traffic lawyer should be able to get it all tossed out in court

And no, the points are based on the offense. Like in my wife's case, 50 in a 35 was going to be 4 points, which would have raised her insurance rate

In some states, like New York, driving on your cell phone is fucking 6 points (the same as running an extended stop sign on a school bus), in lots of other places it is 5

In most states, driving with no valid DL is about 4 points, so you'd likely be looking at 9-10 points if you just swallowed both tickets, which would likely send your insurance rates through the roof/get your policy cancelled

are you fucking serious?
i already pay 170$ a month for full coverage
(am 22 almost 23)
i have never gotten pulled over or ticketed in my life. this fucking sucks dude i live in the state of california

>morning traffic
>speedraceremgage.jpg
>on right passing hella truckerfags
>notice charger tail lights ahead
>decrease speed
>it's a super trooper
>he slows down and gets behind me
>lights them up

Said he got me doing 85 in a 55 and passing on the right I got a lawyer and have court next month what are my chances of it getting reduced? Can his radar even shoot two lanes over behind him I'm calling bullshit

Doesn't look to be as bad in California

Driving on invalid DL is only 2 points and driving on your cell phone is only 1 (amazed cali of all places is so lax on this shit)

Like I said man, pony up 100 bucks and get a lawyer, it will be worth it

>not being on an adult's policy

rekt

It can, almost all police cruiser have rear facing radar units in the back window to do exactly what you just described

points in ca are scaled down

you can traffic school one point off every 18 months but your license is suspended once you hit 4 points in a 12 month span

i just might do that. i guess id have to plea not guilty right?
what do you mean "not being on an adults policy? i am an adult and i pay my own bills fuckwit

B-but he was in the far left of three lanes and there were cars in between us since I was in the right

in insurance terms you arent an adult till youre 25

im 26, have full coverage on a BRZ, CRV, and F150, and I only pay 1400/yr for all 3

that insurance would be 3k if i was 24

the first ticket he gave me (unlicesed driver) ticket he told me it was equivelant to a 16 year old getting stopped for no license he said he gave me that instead of a suspended license ticket which would be 1200$ i thanked him for not giving me that one

you mean at 25 it means you are an experienced driver not an adult dude.

no

insurance rates are specifically high for 16-25 year old young men who arent on someone else's policy because of 'risk factor', ie they think you're a retarded babby

you can be 26 and never have been behind the wheel in your life once and you'll get a way lower rate than a 23 year old thats been on the road for seven years

All he needed was about 2 seconds worth of clear line of sight on your car to get your speed man.

You don't plead anything, the lawyer goes to court for you to contest the tickets

Not necessarily true. Almost all insurance companies have what they call an 'inexperienced operator' clause which means the first 3 years you have your DL, your rates will be super high because of the perceived increase in risk. Doesn't matter how old you are, those first three years you get your DL, your rates will be atrocious.

With most companies, your rate starts getting a little better every year from the time you turn 21 till 30. In North Carolina, on the same car, a 23 year old with 7 years experience would have a much lower rate than a 26 year old just getting his DL for the first time

just looked it up online it says i only get 2 points if i get a suspended license ticket i dont get any points for CVC 12500(a) unlawful to drive unless licensed

Vehicle Code VC 12500 (a) can be charged as a misdemeanor so if you fail to appear in court and miss your court date, then a warrant for your arrest can be issued. A violation of VC 14601.1 driving on a suspended license can result in 2 DMV points going on your license record. A violation of VC 12500(a) does not put any DMV points on your license record.

dude, just get a fucking lawyer, anything that would put points on your license is something you wanna contest, and you want to get a lawyer to do that. if 4 points can suspend your dl in cali, then 2 points is more than worth it to drop a benji on a lawyer to get it taken care of. why are you even debating it?

im not debating anything you cuck

Are radar detectors a meme don't want to shell out ~500 shekels if the fuz are using some other sort of tech that makes it useless

thanks for your infinite knowledge longpost guy

could be worse

Some guy on reddit got an accident on his dashcam. He gave the microSD Card to the officer. The Officer then watched all 10 hours of his driving footage, and give him 8 tickets along with his sd card back.

Honestly if something like that happened to me, I would never EVER help the police with jack shit agian.

I've been pulled over 3 times I have yet to see a single ticket, feels good man.
Hardest to talk out of was an 80+ in a 35

Even if it didn't put any points I'd get the lawyer just to keep it off my driving record and get the fine reduced. What I looked up showed points for the DL and 1 point for the cell phone, but I'm not a California DMV expert either my man.

Not a meme, run a Passport Escort 9500xi in my car every day, saves my ass all the time. You just have understand how a radar detector is supposed to be used/how police radar works. It's not some magic box that's going to prevent you from ever getting pulled over.

no problem

>things that never happened: the post

ill be getting a lawyer thanks again longpost guy

Well explain how then pls make ordering that model tomorrow Seeing as how it is the most hyped from what I've seen

>I can't drive and don't know what a blur board is, either

here is your reply

just go slightly slower than traffic and don't worry about it

>tfw cruise control at 8 over passing by the speed traps every afternoon no problem and everyone else slams on the brakes far after the cops already pegged their speed

had one ticket at 16 being a dummy going 60 in a 35 just before a school zone; cop was nice enough to not give me the school zone fine at least, but I learned my lesson. Went to court and had to go to some 4 hour long BS driving course that wasn't bad at all to avoid having to report to insurance

Also got a ticket for an accident that was technically my fault last year, turning through two lanes and the first was backed up; a woman gave me room to get through the first lane but I couldn't see, she waved me through motioning it was clear but it wasn't. Also went to court and plead no contest and got the fee reduced and didn't have to report to insurance

It happened m8. I just apologized and he screamed at me

If nothing else, Veeky Forums has taught me a valuable lesson.

If you ever get a really bad ticket/fine, always take it to court.

I knew it was acting up, such as flicking on and off on it's own. But then it just stopped. I had purchased new bulbs and etc. And later that day on the drive home late it was out. And after a red light I was pulled over. Ha, a verbal warning.
Cops aren't bad if you are good.

> He talked to the police
> He didn't even need to
> He didn't have a lawyer
> Something bad happened

What the fuck did he expect?

I always go about 8 over. Every time I see a cop I mentally think
>9 you're fine, 10 you're mine
and hope he's thinking the same thing

If I really need to be somewhere it's 15 over. Any more than that is typically reckless unless it's highway driving.

Take it all to court. A simple speeding ticket with a $100 fine is worth contesting because you'll pay far more than $100 in increase insurance premiums in the 3-5 years it takes to come off your record naturally.

>get pulled over
>86 in a 70
>registration
>insurance
>only missing a front license plate that the cop didn't notice
>$120 ticket
fuggin shillinois
pulling over on the left may have factored into that, but in my defense it did put the cop further from passing cars

>ages ago
>15 year old me goes through cop stop in first car
>Learner license
>after dark
>friend with no license in car
>no learner plates
>$80 fine for no L plates, rest is ignored

>same night
>friend gets pulled over, driving alone
>freind has full license
>$400 fine for driving manual car on auto license
>My car was manual as well

pretty sweet being white senpais

He deserved it for not trimming out everything except the footage of the incident itself.

>overtook a car in a 50kmh zone
>radar right after it wich i couldnt see
>29kmh too much
>lincence away for 3 months
>1500$ fine

Seriously dude, fuck switzerland laws

The other day:
>quickly accelerate to 60kmh in a 20&30kmh zone
>cops saw it
>drive away
>5min later, same cops find me
>shitinpants.exe
>they check my bike, alcohol and drug test
>everything was negative and ok
>cop tells me to go home and never do that shit again

>mfw i could have been sent to court

Luckyest day ever

>late for exam
>going 55 in a 35
>police SUV pulls out behind me and starts tailing me without me noticing
>make it to the country road and hit 85
>he throws his lights on
>pulls me over and asks why I was going so fast
>Im late for my traffic enforcement exam sir (I'm in school to be a cop)
>he chats me up about it
>is your driving record clean?
>yes sir
>he checks
>okay you're all clean so just try and go slower and make it there

>mfw I should have gotten hazardous op but got a verbal warning instead.

>be LEO
>when I pull someone over, I often say "you'll get a ticket of XX euros" (don't know if LEO in the US have to give some kind of paper ticket to someone, but I don't)
>actually never ticket anyone, except if they are being massive cunts

>be me ~6 years ago
>just got my full licence
>reppin a 1995 nissan sentra
>learn to do handbrake turns
>get too hektik one day
>fuck up, go into someone's lawn, through a bunch of patio furniture, over a retaining wall, and bounce off their house
>car is totalled
>insurance quotes me $2k to pay out so I don't take an insurance hit, pay it
>cops send me ticket in the mail
>"unsafe u-turn", $120 and 2 points

>pulled over for peeling out of a gas station
>obviously drunk and the cop points that out
>gets back in the cruiser, back up arrives
>"fuck I'm headed to jail"
>cop comes back
>I can see you're a good kid, get out of the car and call a friend to come pick you up then come get your car tomorrow morning

I will never forget that act of kindness

They do have to give a paper ticket, but it is up to their discretion whether or not they do so. Cops can run your license, lecture you, and then just give you a warning.

Daaamn. Here we just pay "penalty point premiums" if we get too many points in a 12 month period. Most speeding tickets are 3 points, most other tickets are 2. So basically you have to get two tickets in a year for this to affect you.

The cop also makes a judgement about you based upon any adverse information he sees in the computer about you. That can include info even if you were not successfully convicted for. And if you come from a family that recently had a member commit a crime, he might give that person a full traffic ticket instead of the just the smallest fine out of the whole bunch.

There are three ways about being pulled over

>talk back and piss off the cop but retain your pride, usually includes shouting and perhaps arrest if you get too angsty but you will certainly get a ticket
Or
>be respectful to the cop and show understanding in what he means, keep a level head and a normal voice and you may not get a ticket
And
>swallow your pride and be submissive to the cop like a bitch, usually accompanied by a higher nasally voice and you may not get a ticket

>fined for no L plates
Fucking retarded

>400$ for driving a manual car in an auto license.
Seriously fucking retarded
In ameriburger when you get a regular license you can drive any car you want that's auto or manual

>Speeding violation in school zone
>Be going 35 in 20
>This was in August
>Prosecution refuses to plea deal, draw it out all the way till April
>Pay a lawyer 300 and he somehow makes it go away even though the prosecutor assured me there was no way the county would ever skip on a school zone violation
>Ended up paying 181 instead of the $300 ticket w/ 4 points
Totally worth, those 4 points would've been thousands in insurance

>Pay a lawyer 300 and he somehow makes it go away
Lawyers are fucking black magic I swear.

You put money towards them and all your minor legal problems disappear

>Driving in-laws' Acura on 5 hour journey to their cabin in CO
>80 in a 65 on long straight mountain road and spot cop Dodge pulled in on the other side
>Pulled in and have documents out before it's even turned around
>Get a text from in-laws (5 minutes behind us) "Was that you?"
>Cop comes back, gives us a verbal warning

>72 hours later, brother in law at the wheel this time
>Following a pickup doing the same speed as us
>Overtaking slowpokes on same stretch of road
>Reds and blues, we and the pickup pull over
>Oh shit, same cop and he's not happy
>Long wait
>Another cop has come to deal with the pickup
>Our cop comes back
>"I didn't get a read on you because you were behind, but he was doing 93"
>"Sorry officer we were just going with the flow of traffic"
>Text from in-laws "are you fucking serious?"
>Cop comes back with a written warning, he has added an extra tick box for 25 over
>As we pull off pickup driver is getting his face mashed on the hood
>mfw

I've had two.

The first:
>Driving home late at night
>Particular intersection limits visability of opposing lane until you are RIGHT in the intersection
>See yellow light up ahead, nail it to make left turn
>Drive pickup, rear end squeals a bit and I make it through the intersection just in time
>Cop was waiting to go straight in opposing lane
>Fuck

>Cop turns right, gives me ticket for running amber light and "display of power"
>Lawyer up, get them both thrown out
>First ticket because I was turning left not going straight, minor difference but it was enough of a discrepancy
>Second ticket thrown out because the judge takes a look at my truck, given the fact that I was turning, and decides that it has no power to display anyway.

Second:
>Driving to work in office job
>Late so doing 30km over the limit in a 60 zone (road was 4 lane divided with no traffic and clear conditions in a semi-rural area)
>Cop pulls me over, sees a combination of a well dressed white guy acting polite in what is clearly a poverty mobile pickup
>Tells me to watch out, this road is heavily patrolled
>Pass two more speed traps on way to work at 10km over with no issues

Judge and second cop were bros.

>decides that it has no power to display anyway
kek

Same goes for Australia, but if you do your driving test in an auto then you can only drive auto until you get your full licence. Unless you do the test again in a manual.

Are you a fucking retard? No police cars have rear-mounted radar.

>running amber light
This is a thing? Yellow isn't a stop signal. It just means be aware the light is about to turn red.
>display of power
The cheapest of cheap shots for a ticket. Revving a Ford Taurus could be a "display of power"
