Hey /gerg/ When I was a kid, I tried the demo for HG2 from a PC gamer disk, and sucked at it horribly. Ages later, with such a giant robot single player drought going on, I'd like to try the series out, both 1 and 2.
Piracy is inevitable - though by this point it's probably abandonware, but have you gotten them running? Are they stable enough?

I haven't tried them anytime in the past decade, but they will probably work.
They were made for win95 and win98 respectively. I know most recent versions of windows has decent backwards compatibility.

Alright. Stuff that ran in DOS usually ends up working pretty well thanks to Dosbox, but if it's 95/98, it may suffer from the same instability problems that MW3 has. Last time I tried to run MW3, I watched an APC drive up a hill and then immediately rocket straight up through the stratosphere. Five minutes or so it hit the ground and exploded. Turned out the physics engine is tied to clock speed.
Have you tried Starsiege? ES 1 and 2 were made abandonware, but for some reason, not Starsiege.

Yeah, dosbox is pretty great because it can emulate control over cycle speed and other factors.
Oh well I'll probably get it anyway, I don't have any mechs that can properly do dual gauss yet.

Kodiak is pretty great overall. It's biggest flaws are it's very distinct torso and head locations and how focused down it is. Both the spirit bear and kd3 are worth getting, while the other bears are rare for obvious reasons.
