But when I complained about the random battles on VII's world map that caused the game to freeze while it's loading the map, someone actually said that to me.

It's worse than that.
When a random battle starts, the game loads whatever landscape you'll be fighting the monsters in.
In short, it loads an entire dungeon.

And once the monsters are defeated, it loads the world map again.
So each encounter is like a mini-dungeon, and at high level, you end up spending more time waiting for the game to load than actually fighting.

Not to mention the game "forget" where you were going, so you need to move the cursor all the way to your destination, AND you don't get immunity to encounters, which means you can get three encounters in a row on three nodes. It happened to me.

Well, yes, I know that. It's actually bearable if you load the same landscape a second time because at least some of it is cached. Thank god for flag items.

Also, my absolute record is 7 nodes and 7 encounters in a row for a streak and 15 encounters on 19 nodes for wasting time.

I just found Nepgear choking to near death hard to watch in VII's bad ending and Uzume dying followed by Neptune's cry heartrending. I don't like seeing any Neps seriously hurt and it's why I hope the guy who came up with the idea of the Conquest Ending got demoted to Janitor at Compile Heart's offices.
