How do I get an arcane marksman going? I can't seem to hit/do damage with my ranged weapon, and my hexes all get resisted. Should I just pick up a sword and depend on Okawaru?

I'm running a spriggan warper because i'm trying races and backgrounds I never really use. Is teleport other worth learning?

Also you should train bows and depend on Oka.
Bows are insanely strong and HE have the apts to get hueg bows early.

Usually you want to learn all your spells. Except cure poison. :^) Teleport other should be pretty solid in the early game for getting rid of dangerous baddies, but your foot evocations should be good enough.

You drag them away from the horde at night and kill them 2 or 3 at a time using obstacles until you can get to the loot.

Approach houses from behind, through a field. Avoid the roads.
Go looting at night when zombies can't detect you from a block away.
Lure zombies into windowsills and over bushes. Movement over difficult terrain takes much longer, so you can get a bunch of free hits in.
Set shit on fire. You can light a bush on fire, lure a zombie on top of it, and fight it while it burns to death. Alternatively, you can burn houses down on top of major threats and groups of enemies.
(G)rab a shopping cart. Not only can it carry much more than you, but it counts as difficult terrain. Bring it with you everywhere, and position it so attackers will climb over it to reach you.
Losing is fun.

Acquire the best weapon you can.
That is, a polearm.

Smash some of the lockers, windows, and benches in the shelter, and grab a rock. You've now got metal, cloth, glass, wood, and a hammer.

Spear is a stupid weapon for stupid oafs.

before I did tomb this cloak had rC+ rN+ int+3, but after about 1000 points of cursing it lost its bonuses

for reference a scroll of remove curse removes 100 points of cursing

Another fun fact: if an acquirement somehow fails to finish properly, you get the rare message "The demon of the infinite void smiles upon you."

Get a little melee, fighting and evasion to use with branded weapons to conserve arrows. Don't care too much about attack delay just actually hit shit. Get bows 27 and more evasion. Use shit like corona, swiftness, blink, leda's liquefaction, portal projectile, summon mana vipers, gell's gravitas, cause fear, tukima's dance, confusion, mass confusion, metabolic englaciation, invisibility, silence and discord to fuck up monsters with weaker MR or slow stronger ones so you can shoot them up. Even into extended a lot of shit has ~50% success rate which isn't shit if you take dith for double casts. Be warned that your longbow is essentially a ranged double sword damage wise so be aware of High AC targets if you didn't get an assload of slaying

Going down levels (especially deeper down) removes more "curse points" than scrolls of remove curse tend to. I think gaining EXP does it too. You could also just play Mummy, and be immune to curses.

Why'd you complain about that if you haven't worshiped Vehumet? You'll 100% always be getting either Shatter or LCS and you can actually get both of those if you manage to found either by memorizing one.

You can also crash the game by casting animate dead or pressing shift-direction while aiming a bolt spell.
