Why are Smart Cars so fucking cheap on CL?

Why are Smart Cars so fucking cheap on CL?

Expect this to show up to an Veeky Forums meet one day

Come on faggots, i know theres atleast 2 of you Smart Car owners on here.

Drop a busa or zx14 engine in there.

rear engine rwd
could be fun
>Get one with the Turbo
>Remap it to 115hp
>get hektik

>Ca Smog
Cant but i wish i could

You cant really get hektik, the traction control wont fully shut off

Pull.
The.
Fuse.

Wont that fuck up systems?

You can trick the ECU.
evilution.co.uk/560

Now get hektik.

youtube.com/watch?v=AgwzHJo3IXM

This does look pretty hektik

Thats fucking great.

Pull out fuse number 11
Owned a '12 smart, if you get rid of the fuse and learn the timing of the gearbox they can be pretty fun for their size

Get a turbo with the flappy pedals shifting enjoy the tiny car that goes faster than most 1.6l cars in the road
Drifting them is also pretty fun, though a bit hard due to the small wheel base

Nope. All you get is the traction control lights on all the time on the dash
Everything else works fine

Ill try and find a flappy pedals, all im finding are A/T at the moment.
I had no idea these were RWD either.

What are the major problems with Smart Cars?
Ive heard theyre kinda finnicky

I never owned one but I heard their transmissions can be a bastard at times. Also mind you, it's not like any other manufacturers make Cara of that size. You'll have to get specific parts that'll probably be hard or expensive to find

>What are the major problems with Smart Cars?

Gay as fuck
Death trap
Gay

They depreciate like stones because they are literally the worst car to be sold in America in the last 25 years

>Would that be a terrible idea?
You MUST guard it because the teenagers here will go LOL LOL and deliberately rock it back and forth back and forth until it finally tips over on its side. Then they run away. And if you catch any of them in a crime, they squeal like stuck pigs and claim you hurt them (even though you didn't).

>Why are Smart Cars so fucking cheap on CL?

Because the american population is full of thuggery. Otherwise, these cars would be good. But on the freeway, the other cars often drive carelessly and may hit your small car thus causing a severe hit and run wreck for you. Some american drivers are full of rage all the time and drive in "angry" mode. If they see your care they might simply push you off the road just to satisfy their immediate rage. Because that small car attracts attention, those drivers would come to you.

Yeah thats what im kinda worried about.
My current commuter car attracts brotrucks with trainhorns.
>mfw work around heavy equipment so loud horns dont bother me

Americans are fat thats why theyre so cheap

>Why are Smart Cars so fucking cheap on CL?
Probably because anyone that has one, no matter how brave they are in the beginning, eventually succumbs to the fear of taking them onto the freeway. Thus, being unable to use them on the freeway, they realize they need to have two separate DD cars which is too annoying. So they sell the SmartCar.

I kinda want to buy one, paint it like takumi's 86 and take it to track days
I think it'd be pretty funny
also the new 2016's are real manuals

Because they're shit, they don't last, and they don't hold value.

PLS DONT

Holy fuck dude, personal experience?

Canadian smart car mods

Buy one, put a modded old VW engine on it, then learn to fly OP

I can confirm that it's too fucking tempting to fuck with them.
And that they're not highway-suitable.

I like to cozy up to them on the motorways and shift back and forth in my lane to watch them wiggle around and destabilise from the slipstream.
And whenever possible, to nudge them into inescapable situations that force them to brake.

Thats a niggerish move on your part.
I still might get one when they hit 3k because thats cheap as fuck.

>Holy fuck dude, personal experience?
Not with a smartcar but with something else unrelated. Because of that, I had a firsthand look at the american LOL LOL LOL mentality that it's okay to vandalize anyone that sticks out.

I can buy them for under 1k here in the netherlands .

You are doing God's work user

>Being this insecure
>Not wanting to die because of your shitbox
Get out of here.

>shit mpg for its size
>requires premium
>unsafe in crashes at highway speed
There are better and faster cars for the money.

because they're not compelling. I'd get a non-turbo'd Fiat 500 way before I'd ever consider a Smart Car.

dont those have terrible reliability?

Because this:

youtube.com/watch?v=sKSPxQjPOm0

>unsafe in crashes at highway speeds

the thing you dumb americans don't understand is, smart cars are CITY CARS

they aren't exactly supposed to be driven in the highway, or at any relatively high speeds, they're just there for the convenience that comes with owning a car that small IN THE CITY

>little dipshit of a car getting wrecked as Mercedes emblem in perfect condition flying off toward the camera at the end

just fucking beautiful, deal with it faggot

see
That crash is at 40 mph, which is the city speed limit in all three major Metro areas around where I live in North Carolina

Hows the Fiat tiny car do?

The 500?

Waaaaay better than the Smart car in the front half-overlap

youtube.com/watch?v=Uhij-Yj0tbU

Yes.
Any idea what the reliability record on them is and depreciation?

>airbag does absolutely nothing to help

You can get an Abarth for 12-13k right now on carmax.

If you actually go follow the links to the crash report breakdown, it goes something like:

-Injuries were fatal (obviously)

-Everything from the knees down is broken in a million places

-Major trauma to both chest, head, and neck

-left arm is broken/fractured

Depreciation is awful because lolFCA. Reliability is decent (engine and tranny are pretty problem free). I almost pulled the trigger on a 500 Abarth a couple years back

Fucking awesome. Love that bunny hop backwards.

>load up on life insurance
>spend your days on American interstates in your smart coffin
>eventually get fucking smashed by a SUV with like 20x the mass of your car
>family celebrates your death by buying houses, cottages, and all new cars with your life insurance

Win win OP. Do it.

OH my, that is the look of a classic death trap.
