Home Plate is actually a decent alternative for people who don't want to do settlements and just want an F3-style apartment in a major hub. I wish DC merchants had furnishing packages like the Megaton/Tenpenny dwellings did.

I really like this mod.

Gives you a little house boat that has a bed, clean water, storage space, computer terminal for playing tapes on and it can travel between a bunch of different places.

I think it's ability to go all the way up the river to get to Taffington Boathouse is the best.

Yeah, TTW just loads as a (gigantic) mod for FNV, technically, so you will need FNV installed.

You _can_ use Fo3 mods with it, but they need to be converted first, and anything scripted might need to be recompiled too. A lot of Fo3 mods have a comparable version available for FNV though, which you should probably install instead; those work without issues for the most part.

All: what happened to the buildable food planters that were in an earlier beta for the Vault-Tec workshop? I was going to do some work against those with a mod of mine, but then I noticed that they are gone from the final release. Does anybody have a copy of the old beta (or alpha I guess?) for the Vault-Tec workshop?

the exploring is driven by the settlement building; if you don't enjoy the settlement building chances are you wont explore the rich locations of the commonwealth in order to scavenge more building materials

no buddy, fallout 3 simply uses the locations as corridors to the next stage of a large amount of quests (inc. a number of key points in the main quest). This exists in the Fo4 boston downtown area too but there aren't pocket areas that can only be reached by going through the metro dungeon
the DC metro isn't actually that big a dungeon; you're just forced through it every time you need to go somewhere in the DC area.

A big problem with it is the fact that it can't be linked to settlements with a supply line though. Even if you almost totally ignore the settlements part of the game (which will loose you a huge money spinner in the water purifiers) it is still useful to be able to access resources remotely like that.

So if I have a robot provisioner and I want to call them back so I can mod or reassign them can I just walk up to them in the wild and recruit them as a companion then dismiss them and choose what settlement I want them moved to?

I was the guy who couldn't get his provisioner to move. I made a second one to connect Red Rocket to Abernathy farms and he got moving immediately, so I took my first guy SH-RR and recruited him as a companion, walked to Sanctuary Hills, then dismissed him and set him to supply line to Red Rocket, no problems at all now.

Is there a way to expand the buildable area on my own? I have a mod that is supposed to do it, and it works really well on most settlements. But at Starlight Drive in I go to autoexit Workshop as soon as I walk out of the little shack the workbench is built in.

Any way I can fix this?
