His lack of normalness is when he forgot that he had a child in the car. A lot of people will say "oh but you can so easily forget". I wouldn't know. Here in the west indies, despite the fact that it doesn't often pass 92 the cars still get hot enough to melt water bottles, pens, tape and other softer plastics. So my routine is that when I park up I take my child out first, then close the gate, then close the windows and then kill ignition.
Sure the gate is a bitch to close with one hand but at least my child doesnt break out in a sweat in 30 seconds of standstill, even with the windows open.
