Best sounding diesel imo

A quadrajet on a small block chevy when the secondaries open up. Being used to tiny fuel injected japanese shitboxes, it's very visceral driving a fuckhueg carb'd v8 with no cat or muffler, only two small resonators.

yeah, the progressive start is kinda neat. the oil burning off adds to it quite a bit. it's like waking a sleeping beast.

but as a pilot, i much prefer to hear them warmed up and ready to go. they have a sort of enthusiastic thrum to them, like they're eager to get off the ground

I used to do some work at an airplane mechanic shop a few years back. So yeah I know that feeling of the engine starting up all at once (something I only heard after a few weeks of whacking the engine with a 5/8' wrench)
