What is the American Dream in car form?

What is the American Dream in car form?

The kind of thing that if you are working class, and put in the effort you get as a reward. A working class symbol of making it, or success.

My first thought was corvette but that seems cliche.

Something RHD that was imported and highly impractical. I'll probably end up buying 2-3 toyota centuries; one as a DD the other(s) for parts

1. Mustang
2. Camaro
3. Challenger

>A working class symbol of making it, or success.
V6 Camry

Viper.

The American dream is cliche, so it deserves a cliche car. I say the Vette is a good choice, or whatever the midsize Cadillac is at the time.

There is only one possible answer.

The vette is an obvious and popular choice. I see a lot of them around and people always regard the owners as someone's that made it

Typically any sports car, this includes the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger.

Most European cars

Obviously shit like Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.

Not really any Japanese cars though

One of the best vehicles that Represents America's Awesomeness.

>Not really any Japanese cars though

The Supra and Skyline of the 90s are faster than 99% of what you just said.

True, but I've almost never seen any around here, and most of the people that are older than me think most, if not all, Japanese cars are cheap shitboxes for childish boyracers. I've had some of them talk down to me because I was interested in getting an Rx7 and/or an MR2. I suppose the only car that would fit the OP is the current gen GT-R for these boomers I have to see everyday

Three pillars of vroom.

I was definitely going to suggest Supras and Skylines as reward cars.

Aluminum? No rust? Cars that last longer? Bah, can't have that.

...

Also, Teslas. Whenever people around here see a Tesla they know there's a rich person nearby

It's not just the speed that makes a car what people consider the American Dream Car...It's the look, the sound, and the nostalgia that reminds people of the days when economy was thriving. That's why the American muscle car is an extremely popular choice whether a classic or the modern version of mustangs, camaros, challengers etc...It's hard to beat the sound of a V8.

...

...

Because Americans can only dream of owning them

Mustangs are starting to look more like the late 60s early 70s that I think can be gorgeous, but why do I still hate the new ones?

>why do I still hate the new ones?
Because you have no taste.

The Corvette is actually the perfect choice, it's obtainable with enough hard work, fairly reliable, and can compete with 911s that cost twice as much

>and can compete with 911s that cost twice as much
>The Corvette

Yes you retard, the C7 competes with the 991 Carrera

t. Porsche owner

What else could it be?

ironically, the car that exemplifies it isn't made in, or sold in America.

The Holden Commodore Sportwagen

>room for family
>exemplifies suburbia
>RWD V8 that can be hot rodded easily

We need these things.

Challenger Hellcat

Only with mods.
Not even the NA-market turbo Supras with 321 hp are as fast as a new Mustang GT. I love the cars but I'll be the first to admit they aren't *that* quick.

This, saving up for the Scat pack challenger

Not every corvette is a Z06.
Regular C7's are reliable.

I still don't get why Americans are allergic to wagons. I want a fast wagon so bad it isn't funny.

I see lot's of Mercedes, Subaru and BMW wagons in my area. No idea why these are the only three companies that can sell wagons here.

Subaru and the Germans are the only ones who care about them anymore.
There's no WRX wagons near me (if that is even a thing), and a BMW or a Merc would either be too expensive to buy or too expensive to keep running.
I'm trying to hunt down an IS300 sportcross, which I will then mod the fuck out of. Even though they're ugly as fuck.

Maybe the reason why Americans don't like wagons today is because all the affordable wagons in the 90's (With the exception of Subarus and MAYBE Saturns) were all complete shit?
I dunno.

E-Classes or C-Class wagons aren't that expensive to maintain unless you go for a V8. Mercedes in general aren't that expensive unless you go for the higher end models.

I see fords all the time with corroding aluminum panels, especially hoods and trunk lids since they've been using aluminum on those for a while already.

The most popular US wagon of the 90s was pretty awesome.

That's the thing though, if I'm going to get a Merc I'm going to get the V8.
I want a reasonably practical DD that I can hoon or take to the track on weekends.

I forgot those existed, mostly because they're barges that are both gutless and fuel gulpers. The wood trim made it look dated when it was new.

I was thinking about things more along the line of the 3rd gen Taurus.

>gutless

The post 94 models had a detuned Corvette engine. You can do a lot with them.

It's pretty hard to find a Mercedes wagon with a V8. Most sold here had the V6. 6 cylinder models still make like 300hp.

>The most popular US wagon of the 90s
That's not a Ford Taurus or a Ford Escort

>Italian company
>Canadian plant
>Indian employees
Sure is American

I wouldn't call the LT1 from the 'vette gutless

>Mexican engine
>German platform

Sauce

My grandpa is a barber and has been for 40 years. He saves his tips in coffee cans and a few years ago bought a 0-mile 2012 Corvette in cash.

He just traded it in for a 2016 Corvette this year and covered the remaining balance in cash as well.

There's no way that either being a barber pays that much or is good enough to earn that much in tips.

He saved his tips for 40 years. Sheer volume.

Also just about any tip-based job pays out the ass. If you ever hear a waiter or delivery driver or barber or whatever bitching about their income, kick them in the groin. They almost definitely make more than 90% of the people they bitch to.

All Chrysler V8 engines are built in Mexico

media.fcanorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=333&mid=

The Challenger is built on the LX platform which shares it's architecture with the previous generation Mercedes E-Class and is built in Canada.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_LX_platform

In that case that's some hardcore savings.

It seemed far fetched in that all 4 decades worth of savings went into a brand new 2012 corvette, and when the trade in value didn't cover all of the 2016, he still had cash to cover the rest.

This shouldn't matter

Why do I think this still matters

Because this was all a lie

What is going on in this pic? Is that how autistic people look?

>corvette
>american dream
>cliche

perfect fit imo

Corvette in Vegas. What cold be more American cliche?

Pt Cruiser

That's the American nightmare.

kek. so far it's been an awesome sleeper

Corvette, Viper, or Saleen S7

>Is that how autistic people look?
Yes. Yes it is. All autistic people have a smooth, rubbery appearance.

These three cars exemplify America in more ways than most realize. Like the American itself, it's bloodline has been fraught with missteps, failures and set backs. (See the Iron Duke Camaro, Mustang II and those Mistu based Challengers from the 80's.) All the same, they represent the reward of copping to your mistakes, sacking up and putting in the sweat to get shit done. Who cares if the damn thing has components from all over the planet, and doesn't have the interior of a German limo? Fuck it, it'll lay down rubber all the same, it'll haul ass all the same, and no matter how much you bitch about panel gap and plastic dashboards, it'll pull pussy better than a stanced this or bippu VIP that. Imperfect, but victorious. Like the big dick dumb as shit winner that my glorious homeland is.

Pic related, America runs on middle fingers and overkill.

yeah, if by sleeper you mean sleeping in the garage getting the oil leaks fixed AGAIN then yeah, maybe

also
>that fuel economy

Really smart people build the Iowa class though, how can you compare it to those terrible cars?

>Really smart people built a ship that was already obsolete when the keel was being laid.

Tip top kekles.

Strangely enough that obsolete ship was used in conflicts for the next 50 years.

Confirmed solid taste
Muscle for days

What do you call American rice?

this

I read that as "not blind" as if it were some kind of defense for his utter lack of taste

That's not corrosion, that's the paint flaking off, you mong.
