It's hard to choose a favorite. I love sound and, for the most part, I enjoy most sounds cars make. I guess the flavor of the day would be the Koenigsegg one:1. The sound it makes under load is just amazing.

S54s only sound good from the intake, the exhaust noise is garbage. The funny thing about M3s is that people put loud exhausts on them, which sound like shit. The exhaust note is like a Civic with two extra cylinders, so much rasp. The intake is what sounds good, and these fuckwits drown it out with awful exhaust noises.

I love the Viper engine. its truck Origins, its absurdly high displacement and what Chrysler has been able to pull off with it. its like something out of a Cartoon but it worked.
I've been curious as to what would happen if they tried to cut it in half to make an I5 similar to how GM cut two cylinders off one of their V8s to make the Vortec V6 (or so I've heard)
They could cam it and make it somewhat opposite to the Viper engine (i-e fairly high reviving with a turbo) could also potentially be the world's largest displacement performance I5 since the V10 configuration is 8+ liters .

I don't think they are being reved that high, maybe 10k tops. I think the amazingballs sound is the 6-1 exhaust manifold.
Mine is stock with a KN intake and filter.
Some guys have a great sound. It's more of a growl than a rasp. Popping exhaust on downshifting and all. They have headers and all to achieve.
I agree though most sound like this.
I've always considered a rasp eliminator sec 2 pipe but never went for one. Rasp gives the car character.
S54 both intake and exhaust sound stock is unique in its own way. No other car sounds like it.

The only BMW I6 that actually sounds any good is the M88, the rest sound like a fat kid wheezing through a soup can.

When I did the fuel pump on mine I left the back seat out for a while. Very noticeable then but doesn't bother me and I HATE a rice sound.

It's a true tuned exhaust manifold.
The different lengths help keep gas scavenging even between all the cylinders which helps in getting the uniform amount of air for combustion between all the cylinders therefore the engine can make torque and power more efficiently.

That carbon fiber on the back side is the intake manifold. The engine itself is actually slanted. It's done for hood clearance and the ability to mount it a bit lower

el diablo e46 m3 exhaust sounds pretty good, most would agree this is the best sounding exhaust for the s54.
