Old thread is close to autosaging Old thread here - >I am able to run US/Canadian VINs (anything with a fitting VIN; bikes, cars and so on) and US plates. For plates the same rules apply as VINs; 1981 or newer, US registered, and the plate and state are needed. Plates do work most of the time, but VINs are more reliable. >Please remove hyphens (dashes) from VINs/plates - unless they happen to be part of a vanity plate. This makes copying and pasting easier. >I can only run vehicles in/originally in the USA/Canada. If they've been exported from the USA/Canada, a report with their time here will be available. Not yet sure about imported cars. >Vehicles need to be of the 1981 model year or newer. That's when standardized VINs began. Anything older simply cannot be run for a report. >There are never I(i), O(o), nor Q(q) in VINs. This is to avoid confusion with 1 and 0. So if you are unsure, it is always 1 or 0 (not the case for classic cars, but they cannot be run anyway). >VINs must be 17 characters exactly. No more, no less. >If you want the PDF-file you can open the page source (F12) and search "amazonaws", copy the whole link and put it in your browser. This should allow you to download the PDF. That's weird, the guy selling it on CL just bought this car from Mullinax Ford in November of last year. He's only had it for 6 months and is selling it already. Not something I could tell from Lexus service history because after last entry there it was sold to Mullinax Ford. It apparently had power steering pump problems at the time and it seems the guy traded it in there to avoid having to deal with the problem. Then I doubt Mullinax did anything about it, and this guy doesn't wanna deal with it either.
The search continues I guess.

I have a question and this seems an appropriate thread.
If a carfax lists 'functional damage reported' and 'disabling damage reported', does that mean the vehicle was functional (IE: Engine running fine) but that it couldn't be driven away?
Like, if a tire was damaged or possibly a wheel issue.
I ask because that's what was listed on one of the reports and when I asked the dealer about it, they didn't have details but claimed 'functional damage' means it was able to start up and run just fine.
Owen Stewart
Functional damage means it can drive away, disabling means it was towed.
Julian Ramirez
What if both are listed on the same accident?

that means that, while it was functional, the driver had it towed anyway
I had an accident like this where the front of my car was smashed in, the car still drove fine but there was a section of my front wheel well making contact with the tire and the a/c was leaking fluids
Owen Bell
Thank you. Between that and the fact that it was driven for several years after the accident I feel much better about possibly purchasing that vehicle.
You thought you'd be a smartass and post that VIN just before I was going to ship another batch of checks, huh? You thought you were gonna make it look like I ignored you because you can afford a nice, newish Mercedes that is better than my own, huh?
Well fuck you Bob
