My car has a 6 speed manual, 6th doesn't seem to be an "overdrive" in the sense that there isn't a colossal drop in RPM's between 5th and 6th.
1st and 2nd are extremely short, them everything upwards of that is quite linear. I've always driven my car pretty much everywhere in 6th gear, as it still has the ability to accelerate (albeit slowly) from 35mph and above in 6th.
Am I doing it wrong? I pretty much upshift at 2000rpm (muh diesel) and try to keep the RPM as close to 1000 as possible when driving about town.
Jordan Thompson
everything you described is pretty standard..
Juan Myers
1000rpm?
are you retarded?
don't you have any fucking feeling whatsoever about what the cars engine is telling you by the rattling and chugging?
either you're completely and absolutely stupid or you're trolling
Bentley Morgan
"I've never driven a diesel car" -the post
Amerifats need to get off my board.
Josiah Thomas
Just the engine running slightly above 1000rpm is enough to keep the car moving with a diesel.
That said I try and keep it between 1500 and 2000rpm unless I'm pushing it. (Amazing 4500rpm diesel redline lel)
Dylan Myers
Get rekt cunt.
All I ever do is drive diesels. And you do not drive along at 1000rpms. Could state the facts to back it up, but since you're clearly either stupid or not familiar with diesels, it would be a waste of time.
Colton Bell
Sure.
It's also fine to fuck up dmf's, clutch and everything else transmission related to the way diesels dump their torque.
Diesels are happiest, in general, since this new common rail generation brought lower max torques, above 1700, being the sweetspot 1900 for many.
1000. I can't even fathom the excruciating sounds coming from an engine at that low rpm.
Daniel Adams
>tfw I chug around in both my gasoline vehicles under 1000rpm as much as possible
David Wright
What the fuck are you talking about?
If your diesel is chugging at 1000rpm then I don't know what the fuck to tell you.
Brandon Ross
I know what to tell you.
You have no idea how to properly drive a diesel.
Luke Taylor
> ITT PEOPLE WITH NO CONCEPTION OF TORQUE CURVES
Juan Ramirez
Yes, you do. If I want to get good empeegees, I just put in fifth and roll along at 1000rpms. The engine doesn't chugg or whatever if it has enough momentum.
Blake Hernandez
Been driving diesels most of my life and although I don't advise driving around at 1k I have a hard time believing the engine is struggling (unless it's actually under 1k).
Of course you could explain your point better and help me and other anons understand but, since this is Veeky Forums, being a prick is mandatory and on that regard you are quite the specialist.
Jackson Walker
Here come the trip faggot.
You already got rekt in every thread you participate so far, you're willing to get anally raped again?
No you do not, especially on a limp shit engine like a 1.3 that has no torque whatsoever.
No wonder that your sorry stupid nigger ass complains about clogged dpfs...
Struggling isn't chugging.
Two very different things and at 1000rpms, most regular diesels (exclude heavy trucks) will most definitely be chugging.
plus low exhaust temps, more soot, more particules, more soot being recirculated, more soot being accumulated in the dpf, regens more frequent
plus any time you press down the accelerator to gain speed you'll be forcing the engine to dump all the binary he has at once, dmf flywheels absolutely hate that shit, all components on the transmission absolutely hate that shit
plus, the sweetspot for comsumption on diesels is the max torque or slightly slower where the best cx crosses with the best achievable torque figure
and I can go on
diesels sure can go along at 1000 rpms, but they're not happy at 1000rpms
anyone that says the contrary is wrong is stupid and should learn a bit more before babbling shit like mjet
Jacob King
>200Nm from a 1.3 >no torques whatsoever tiptopkek
Luis Hughes
200nm
You think that even registers in the scale of decent diesel engines? That was the norm for so called decent cars ten fucking years ago.
Enjoy your limp dick engine.
David Campbell
>200nm
200. 2-0-0. Is this fucking guy for real? I'm gonna crack a rib.
Josiah Garcia
what r you driving? a lawnmower? the way he said it... as if he had an slr engine... lel
Ryder Murphy
THANK YOU.
See, wasn't that hard to provide an explanation. I usually only let it drop to 1k if I'm coasting along and downshift do accelerate. Guess I could have explained that better as well.
Lincoln Ramirez
Most of the time explaining anything here is pure waste of time. It's like explaining to a school boy why he flunked when hes even too stupid to realize the shit he did.
Dylan Mitchell
Most people also don't downshift to accelerate. That's of the worst things you can do to the clutch on a diesel with a heavy torque figure. Always, always, if possible, downshit to the max torque point or near, and then burry the foot. Otherwise when you mash the accelerator under that point and expect rpms to climb, you'll be dumping all the torque at once at the clutch. Sure they can handle it, but it's not healthy.
Justin James
look at him, LOOK, look how he says 200 conviced he's driving a rocket, look at him!
Owen Watson
You can't stop being a retard now, can't you? One more thread one more humiliation bath. Now, just kill yourself dude.
Ian Stewart
I had an 1.2 diesel Seat that made 180NM on 3 cyl lel. What a fucking shitty engine that was. Shit my pants every time I had to merge on the freeway and didn't even cross my mind overtaking other cars.
Ryan Long
Just wait till the trip faggot comes around and bashes you cause it was a vag engine and not a glorious muh torqs italian piece of shit.
Justin Allen
1000 rpm might be acceptable operating speed for a stationary power generator or a locomotive prime mover, but not for a small automotive diesel
Ryan Green
>mfw all these (You)s with 3 lines of text You guys sure are assblasted.
Jose Rivera
Americans can't into torque
Jack Peterson
Just to clarify, I drove a gutless 1.4 8v petrol before, which had about 110Nm. I could merge fine on the freeway. So either you can't drive or you're just a retard. But then again, only retards would buy limp VAG diesels.
Oh, and check what I wrote >200Nm from a 1.3 (that´s 1248cc) Care to tell me which 1248cc engine produces as much torque in the market? Not even a 1.4 TDi does it. And a 1.6 TDi only produces 50Nm more. Yeah, it's not a 2L with 400Nm, but it isn't really a slouch like you want to make it.
Brayden Scott
stfu nigger you got roasted once again
looky look
what did I tell you? this guy is a fucking retard on steroids
if the engine is 1248 then it's not a 1.3 but a 1.2, you can't even get numbers straight
get the fuck out of Veeky Forums you sand nigger, who told you that your shitty car from a shithole like yours is anywhere relevant?
Ryder Moore
Doesn't even have 100hp. Yet he rages and rages and rages and rages... You sure must be fun at parties.
Tyler Walker
>can't even round up numbers I don't think I'm the retard here, kek.
Nathan Harris
>electronic gauge cluster barf
Jackson Green
>His car can't into night vision
Jace Sanchez
All modern clusters are electronic
Elijah Wright
electronic in terms of signal recption, analog for the superior style
that and every car I've ever driven that had a screen of some sort up there had terrible refresh rate (lol 25fps) and it triggered me being able to tell wehn it refreshes. I might get on board when they realize it's not a movie screen
Jaxon Brooks
Stop driving shitty cars with low quality screens
Charles Cruz
>about to run off the lane
Sebastian Rogers
Are you one of those people that keep themselves in the very centre of the lane so the entire car is on the right side?
Justin Thompson
No he isn't?
Cooper Cooper
The car seems to have lane assist on anyways.
Oliver Hall
"overdrive" just means that the output gear is larger than the input gear you huge pleb. back in the day it was rare for the transmission not to only have reduction gears
Juan Gonzalez
It will. I'll be running it at 105hp/250Nm in the near future.
Austin Bell
>His fuel icon doesn't have an arrow indicating which side of the vehicle to add fuel.
Jayden Johnson
The way car engines are identified are anything under 1249 is a 1.2, anything above 1250 is a 1.3. So, you're micro engine in reality is a 1200cc. Never before mathematical formulas for rounding up numbers were used in car engines.
I can't wait to hear you complain about knacked dmf/injector failure/turbo surging/dpf clogging. Gotta love chavs and remaps.
You dumbfuck, don't you even realize that the people who designed the shitbox you drive, took years studying the best combos while leaving a safety marging for reliability and durability? Don't you understand that if they deemed it sustainable and durable they wouldn't have put the cars out to the market with that kind of figures from the scratch? Do you really think some grease monkey just adding fuel and boost has a deep understanding of what's going on? Fucking idiots. I'll bet you one thing, 99% of the remap monkeys won't measure or even care about EGT temps. And then people complain about the government putting out laws and more laws. It's cause of faggets like yourself that I applaud government intervention. Shit like this has to be stopped.
Mason Bailey
Don't you see the pump drawing with the hose on the right side? Are you stupid or what?
inb4 that's more a myth than anything
inb4 you're so seriously retarded you can't remember which side your car has the tank cap
Michael Foster
>guys ruins his own car by his own mistakes >this requires government intervention
Get fucked, statist. If he wants to blow his engine fucking let him learn from his mistakes. You don't like it, man the fuck up and say it to his face, don't go running to big brother like a fucking cuck.
Liam Bell
This person has never driven a diesel in his life.
Cameron Robinson
>fiat engine >blowing up lmao son do you even read what you're writing?
Joshua Perez
>This person is not even a single person.
Connor Rivera
Problem isn't him fucking his car. He could die in it and I wouldn't care.
Problem is the rest of us being taxed for the environment and half dozen other shit while this kind of pissants do everything agaisnt the law and act like entitled little bitches pissing on society.
Cooper Walker
The only diesels you know are buses, am i rite?
Gavin Peterson
Then go tell your government to fuck off and stop regulating it. If you don't wanna pay for that shit stop being a beta cuck and speak the fuck up
Andrew King
>am i rite?
Angel Reyes
Do I care? Point is there I no reason for the government to be sticking it's dick in people's cars, not whether a fiat can kb
Lincoln Smith
I want to leave a planet to my kids. I'm quite happy with the government cracking down on shitheads like mjet.
When I want to vent, I get the weekend car and I go on a track. I don't remap my dd to race on the public roads.
Samuel Hughes
If you wanna be a fucking hippy all you need are emissions standards, not a total fucking ban on modification
Dylan Rodriguez
Your kids won't remember you.
Luke Davis
the emissions standards are pointless if the end user can circumvent them anyway
Asher Moore
I'm not dissing modifications.
I'm dissing chavs that remap their cars, pollute more, take of cats and dpfs, "roal coal", etc's on fucking daily drivers.
Jeremiah Hughes
>people actually believe car pollution is real and dangerous
oh goy
Christopher James
If he can circumvent the emissions standards what's gonna stop him from doing anything else? There are other planets, user. This one will be one big nature preserve soon enough anyway. Your kids want clean air they can tell the vot to get the fuck back to funding NASA so mankind can get back to fulfilling it's fucking destiny.
Colton Price
And the earth is also flat.
Parker Allen
...
Brayden Rivera
For now he can. In the near future he won't and for one, I'm glad that it's happening.
