Looks like shit and seems like it'd obstruct the driver's vision a good deal.

They could have at least made it transparent.

BTW this was the competition.
Instead it looks like Jimmy Buffet thought that even F1 should wear flip flops.

Just make a closed cockpit already fuck.

but m'uh racing tradition

I'm saying make the Halo out of transparent material.

Most transparent materials need a form of more rigid support anyways.

The open Cockpit is the only thing the sport has with roots to old days

Why not just make a roll bar that goes over the helmet?

Why not just use robots?

You're right, it's obviously too dangerous to have drivers in the cockpits of these vehicles, why don't we just make them all remote controlled like they do with military drones?

that looks like shit

Why not? Drone races could have less restrictions since human lives are no longer at risk?

closed cockpit like jets, are fucking badass.
anyway I donĀ“t give a fuck, F1 died for me more than a decade ago.

The problem with that is that the it will get dirty quickly which will make it harder to see out of the car and the driver wouldn't be able to do anything about it. That's why the helmets have ripper strips on their visors: The driver can easily have a clean field of view in a matter of seconds. With a big chunk of plexiglass, the driver has to go into the pit to have the crew clean it.

True, and a metal mesh actually poses more danger in an accident as it could cave inwards.

Not even open wheel?

How can anyone be expected to see out of that?

No we should have virtual races because debris from a drone race crash could injure or kill a spectator.

No we should just imagine the races in our minds because the realism of a VR headset could give someone a heart attack.

Looks cool. Fzero soon

Drone races could be pretty hardcore if they put on a minimum weight. That'd stop everyone from using little quadrotors that look like they all came from the same Alibaba page and start using big beefy fuckers that could serve as war machines.

No we should just purport the idea of races because imagining a race could hurt someone's feelings when someone else imagines their imaginary car winning the race.

You're welcome

That's not even real.

>hurf durf sjw tier hurrrrrr

Will probably last one season (if it gets used at all)

That's what I've been saying for years. Abandon 'driver safety', and get them out of the cars. No marshals, you can replace them with drones as well to save THEM getting killed. Put up high chain-link fences to protect spectators from debris, and just start lifting restrictions.
Have the cars cornering at absurd speeds, risking takeoffs if downforce is broken.

Then add cameras all over the cars, and stream everything through the internet. Let people pick which camera they want to see from, fuck the 'F1 feed' nonsense.

Or, hell, because future cars will be self-driving, AUTOMATE THE FUCKING LOT. Let them pick their own strategies for pit stops and lines. Cover the cars in sensors. AI Grand Prix.

>some safety
>zero risk to human beings
>entire point of "sport" is competition between human beings and inherently risky activities
>it's a display of physical and mental vitality
>there are cults around players for a goddamn reason
>just not comprehending the primal nature of sports and going for some meta shit only ultra-sheltered white nerds could enjoy
