For some characters Urug continues being dangerous until mid-lair. Erolcha is really fucking dangerous

Just walk away is only good advice 97% of the time.

I tried TOME4 but it seems to take the worse aspects of elona and angband without any of the good, with a bunch of bullshit tacked on (like the unlock system). What a meme.

Most fun classes are locked from the beginning, and constantly having to restart picking from the default 3 classes is just no fun, don't do that to yourself.
Also TOME4 is Diablo: The Roguelike, and should be treated as such.

I guess I fell for the memes. I guess if you are very unlucky you might not get enough metal out of shelter lockers to craft four spikes, but I can't imagine that is common.
Even the wood spear looks slightly better if your profession starts with a way to make fire.
You play a tablord race and fight hard. You max invocations then just disaster area when you get swarmed.
Got the rlgrobin's DgGl on xtahua to the point where you can enter Lair. Have fun whoever wants to play it further.

It's probably easier to play online than install it. Mac and /g/entoo have an SSH client preinstalled. On Windows you can use PuTTY.
