Somebody is going to say it, I just know it. Anyway, I think since technology has a focus in this game, the explanation will be dealing with that. He's basically right there watching over the shrine of resurrection at the start of the game. He would probably had access to it and used something inside there to keep him alive for all those years. The monks also have something to do with this as well, they are all extremely old and only die when you complete their challenges. They have been waiting for you.

We know that its been 100 years since Link woke up. But that doesn't mean it was 100 years after OoT Link's defeat in the downfall timeline, either. For all we know, several hundred years could've passed, which leaves enough room for a brand new King to take over.

Its pretty safe to assume that considering the Royal Family still exists throughout all timelines. OoT Zelda would have to give birth to Daphnes for it match up as it does in WW, and the equivalency would happen in Downfall and Child as well.
While true, I doubt it'll be hundreds of years, it'd bleed over into one of the other games.

I don't think that could even be the case. Between Ganondorf getting sealed, and the events of Wind Waker, There was no Hero, and Hyrule didn't Flood yet (According to Breath of the Wild).

If it was the Adult timeline, it would be a long time after Wind Waker.

This is a fanfic. By extension all theories based on it are fanfic. No frame of reference and no lineage has been given for the games, so one generation or 10 generations or any number of generations can pass between the games.

I didn't say it wasn't headcanon. Its just clearly logical based on where the games are placed and how much rough time passes between them. Could Daphnes be her grandson or great great grandson and so on? Sure he can. But you also have to take into account that Tetra's mother wasn't Daphnes' wife, it was likely his granddaughter at best, considering there is a Princess Zelda in Hyrule Castle.

I tried looking that up but only saw "many generations after Ganondorf got sealed". If that's what you're going off of, that isn't enough info. a generation is anywhere between 20-30 years and "many" isn't a good enough indicator of time. It could be 10 or 20 in that case.

What is the possibility that BOTW is going to retcon Link dying in OOT? Could it be possible that the story is going to revolve around how Link somehow survived but caused him to go in a coma, his body was then taken to the shrine (which is right next to the ToT) and he's been stored there for a hundred years? 100 years mentioned literally in the text doesn't allow for a "hundreds of years" interpretation.

If trends from the other games are an indication, it will be a new link completely. He doesn't even have OOT Link's signature hairstyle. He is similar looking to a scruffy version of LttP/LoZ/TP Link.

OoT Link's design has been retconned. Its very clear if OoT was actually remade (instead of a texture upgrade for 3DS) he'd look like TP/SS Zelda.

Its pretty clear they have a specific design set for Adult Links now and its the TP/SS one. You can argue BotW Link but he looks to be 14 at most compared to the others who are 16-18. Even then he looks pretty similar.

I don't know, I still think this is a different Link. If it does take place in the downfall timeline, directly after OoT - then its sort of become a tradition of a new Link taking his place and cleaning up his split-timeline mess if WW Link and TP Link's adventures are any indication.

I suspect that unlike the adult timeline (where he was recognized and revered for his deeds,) or the child timeline (where he wasn't recognized as THE hero, but did end up becoming a valiant knight and hero in his own right,) he'll be remembered in an extremely negative light in the downfall timeline due to his failure, which in turn will strongly affect BoTW Link's quest.

The way TP directly referenced events in OOT, it would be pretty slick if BotW directly referenced events from TP.

The faces don't really look similar, where are you getting this from? OoT Link has much sharper facial features bigger eyes. The eye color isn't even similar and the nose isn't as big as OoT Link.

Also every single link has really long sideburns. Look at them all in relation to their heads. They're all really long.

Give or take that Nintendo basically answered that the Temple of Time is indeed the same one from OoT on the facebook page, perhaps it be wise to assume that all of the icon landmarks, ruins, easter eggs and such that people have spotted so far might actually have plot and lore significance. We can spot a bridge that bares a strong resemblance to either the Bridge of Hylia or the Bridge of Eldin.

I've been looking at the bridge for a bit, but I don't really see it being either. It looks similar but has distinct differences in design which sets it apart from those two.

I still don't see how this is supposed to change anything or even be surprising. It was obviously the Temple of Time from OoT. why wouldn't it be? Every single Temple of Time in all the games is the same one from OoT.

If BotW gives us the most complete and accurate depiction of Hyrule to date, it will feel pretty weird if the next game gives a complete and accurate Hyrule that is somehow way different. I almost want them to make a map that they just keep forever, but I know that isn't a good thing to want because the overworld is basically a dungeon outside of the dungeons.

The next game most likely will take place in a completely different place, like Termina after OoT, or in a completely different time where it will look very different.

Or they'll just give us ALBW for BotW
