Rance Quest - 64% translated.
Brandon Williams
So an Urza pic for the next thread.

Liam Hall
0-5 Rance never gets localized again after 5D and VI come out or it takes 4+ years per game
6-9 Rance continues to get localized at a steady 1-2 year pace per game
Henry Edwards
>all the newcomers to the Rance series will be starting with Rance 5D >Rance 5D, the game where combat is dice rolls, exploring is a roulette wheel, and if you mess up you basically have to start again from the beginning because of the time limit
David Gray
Expect the remakes to be done at a certain point
Zachary Cruz
So, you're saying that the game is fun?
Jeremiah Robinson
>Certain point >4+ years
Nathan Ross
Sure is a lot of new blood in here.
Joshua Howard
And VI, unless you think that people will buy two games and only try the one that is sold as a bonus.
Elijah Ortiz
It'd be a little silly to start with VI when you have the game chronologically prior to it available
Hunter Ward
it's not silly to ignore a shitty game to play one that is actually good
Tyler Powell
yeah the threads on /v/ already had frogshit and cuck memes fuck
Cooper Nguyen
Except 5D is a short fun game and most people don't know what to expect with it
Owen Ward
If you start with 5D and don't like it you would stop playing and move on to VI. Unless you hate Rance's character, rape, etc, but this series wasn't for you to begin with if that's the case.
Tyler Ross
No real point just stopping when it's such a short and really easy game.
Sebastian Sanders
It could be a case of something like SR, where you play VI first (or play 5D, not like it and move on to VI), loved it and then go back and play 5D after you endeared yourself to the characters.
Nicholas Hughes
I personally couldn't stand the gameplay and left it there. It's the only Rance game I didn't play, aside from the original I and II.
Xavier Barnes
I think most people would play 5 before 6, most people don't even know SR is 7.
I really don't understand how people have issues with 5D, it's literally 2 hours long and if you don't like RNG you can just cheat by using the save files as save states
Aaron Jackson
The original I is crazy short though. I remember playing it, finishing it and finding out the bonus scenes with Patty (and possibility other things). With no save except for the one in the climax when you're chasing down Lia, I replayed the whole game in 15-30 minutes.
Seto Kaiba Rance is best Rance too.
Justin Adams
Better to play 01 or read the digest
Logan Cooper
>Seto Kaiba Rance is best Rance too.
I swear you've been here for years calling him that.
Liam Wright
For those that don't know moon, the Ova is the best option really.
Ian Evans
I dun geddit.
Is the joke "Screw the rules, I have dick"?
James Robinson
But most of the western fanbase for Rance (or at least /haniho/) is built on playing SR first, loving it and then going back to play the other games that came before though.
Even if 5D was intolerant at first, or they read the description and figured that they could start with VI, they might go back to 5D after finishing VI.
Not the only one that did that, but might the only one left.
Elijah Price
Well /haniho/ knows the events of 5D which is the important part, It makes the Rizna and Feliss parts in VI so much better if you've read 5D first.
Gavin Watson
The joke is Rance I Rance looked more like Seto Kaiba than Rance. Hence the affectionate nickname for that version of Rance.
Julian Price
>Feliss in VI can't wait to blast ontology wailing
Benjamin Young
I call Rance I's Rance that way all the time too.
Jonathan Nelson
I call him that and I just join the conversation.
David Gutierrez
KANAMI
Alexander Smith
We were on page 7 user.
Grayson Jenkins
Come to think about it, is the Rance VI we're going to buy the patched version? The only notable changes that I can remember are Alex's lvl cap increase and I think something about the presents?
Hudson Gutierrez
Apparently it just won't have in the Sat-chan patch.
Nathan Ramirez
I just wanted to be useful again user
Connor Phillips
There are many minor bugs and what not. They went up to patch 1.05 afterall.
Matthew Cooper
You're not needed anymore Kanami.
Mason Jackson
What about Semen demon-chan?
Ayden Smith
>I don't see why ignorance of people not knowing to correct pronunciation has to do with anything Correct pronunciation under what standards exactly? English? Japanese? My sloppy ESL brain had me read Gele as ゲレ for a while. Considering that the closest english word that I know is gale, I've always been torn about that name's pronunciation. Is it ギール? ジェイル? How is anyone who's never read the katakana supposed to know
On the other hand, Jill and Eisel are actual names and everyone in the world knows how to pronounce those, or can look them up, plus ジル and アイゼル are their semi-official transcriptions. Wanting to call them gelatine and hi there just makes no fucking sense
Isaiah Phillips
They've already confirmed it's compatible at least. None of the content would be TL'd but hey.
Nolan Davis
As a fellow ESL, I've also always pronounced Gele as ゲレ, and Lia as ライア.
Connor Lee
>Next thread >back to being dead edition
Christopher Carter
A huge number of names aren't immediately obvious how to pronounce, so I don't see why that's enough reason to change the name.
Maybe if there was better alternative it wouldn't be as bad, but the fact that Jill is an actual name is exactly what's wrong with it. Gele is an interesting fantasy name. Jill is a boring name you'd expect from a coworker, not an "archfiend".
Nicholas Russell
>Autists like this calling the translators autistic.
Jack Ortiz
On the other hand, Gele was just a regular girl, not an "archfiend". I'm okay with either personally.
Dylan Adams
Why were you /v/ to begin with?
Jayden Sullivan
I thought that was every /v/ thread.
Cameron Carter
Goddamn, how am I supposed to beat the machines in Magic's tower in Rance VI? They just wrecked the absolute fuck out of me with the lightning.
I don't know if I should just spoiler everything Rance VI related from now on.
Carter Davis
You're not supposed to beat them, run away.
Carter Stewart
Since they're upscaling, wouldn't her sprite be undersized too? Either way, it shouldn't be that much content to translate should it?
Kinda don't care if I haven't played Daiakuji.
On that note, anyone here who has? I've got extremely basic moon, and I wonder if that's enough to try tackling it.
Mostly, Gele just bothers me because the name of her era is GL. If you keep Jill, rename it to JL. If your worried about pronunciation, call her Gel. Keep things consistent at least. That sort of thing stands out like a sore thumb and brings up more questions and inconsistencies than anything else, which I think is the worst thing you can do as a translator or with nameshit. That's why that change bothers me more than JAPAN or Archfiend.
Cooper Peterson
That... actually does make a lot sense. I guess I don't mind the name as much considering her origin.
Maybe it's just because it's what I'm used to, but I still prefer Gele though. And I don't think people not knowing how to pronounce it is reason enough to change it.
Aru mentioned on twitter they plan on changing the era names as well.
Jaxson Mitchell
>which I think is the worst thing you can do as a translator The worst thing you can do as a translator is make an incorrect translation that says something completely different to the original source, which is more common than it should be.
Joshua Murphy
I'm just going to be a dick and confuse new people by refusing to budge and forever talking about Demon King Gele.
Nathaniel Gray
Fair enough. But I put creating inconsistencies and -pointless- name changes is on the list. I find Gele to be the latter.
She's in one game though, and the rest is mostly background info, to my knowledge, so I'm not going to care too much. I'll keep calling her Gele on my own.
Aiden Fisher
She makes an indirect appearance in VI though.
Sebastian Scott
Pretty sure we're all going to have names that we stick to out of stubbornness or out of habit.
Blake Nguyen
I was confused about this too so I watched an LPer fight them where the guy had OP overlevelled characters and managed to beat them, and then he got super confused when Rance ran away anyway.
Owen Long
That is the Leila fag
Kevin James
>If you're worried about pronunciation, call her Gel Is there anyone who wouldn't pronounce gel as ジェル?
Leo Gutierrez
If you're worried about pronunciation, call her "shut up and suck my dick, you brainless slut"
Dylan Martinez
I'll admit that Gele looks kind of esoteric but please, please drop the Ithere
Elijah Cook
No
Easton Williams
Make me.
Parker Williams
Well I guess I can always filter posts
Landon Rodriguez
Ithere is 'official' anyway.
As long as everyone understands what name someone is using we should just use whatever name
Jordan Martin
Well, at least that's what the villagers called her.
While they were gangraping her.
And before they de-limbed her and smash her breasts with rocks.
Luis Bailey
I'm just autistic and I want everyone to use the same name whether it's something that I like or not
Logan Bell
What's the "better" translation for Ithere? Aether or something?
James Martin
That already didn't happen.
Kayden Morris
What was Aru's "fix" for Ithere in KR? Aizel too or something else?
Joseph Gonzalez
Archfiend Small Hime
Cameron Brooks
Whether there's a "better" translation or not Eisel is the official one now
Wyatt Wilson
Already not going to happen, this general was built with nameshit. People will just discuss it at length, come to no real conclusion and everyone just uses whatever they want.
Ludo's a lot more convenient than Rudra(saum) too.
Nathaniel Perry
At least nameshit bumps the thread
Jaxon Jenkins
Rudrathaum can refer to his game appearances, for the continent in general I'm still going to use Ludo.
Luke Robinson
you fucking got me Archfiend is no where near as smooth as Demon King
Jacob Ramirez
Beside what names are right to use, what about the translations in general? How are Aru and Maria when it comes to that?
Christian Stewart
Aru's pretty good, although he's a little long winded sometimes.
Jack James
I wouldn't worry about them in that regard.
Josiah King
They're fine with that.
Bentley Diaz
Maria's pretty good. Her writing sometimes lacks punch but that got a lot better when she started working on projects with editors. Aru's been getting a lot better over time but his TLs tend to be straightforwardly written and his editor is pretty passive. I guess whether that straightforwardness is good or bad is up to you.
Bentley Price
I KNEW IT, I KNEW WE WERE GONNA GET BAMBOOZLED
still, at least it's coming out.
Ethan Gonzalez
Maria does a pretty good internal Rance. Which one was it that had the porksword? I remember that sentence was gold in how it was done.
Adrian Nguyen
Oh, I just remembered as I posted it. It was the IV fight against Sanakia, wasn't it?
Parker Nguyen
Our old posters really are coming back, huh
Kayden Myers
Someone in stream linked me the mangagamer page so I rushed here
David Jones
Besides Aru's bizarre name choices neither are really bad.
Isaiah Jones
Little Princess is written in katakana and it's abundantly clear what it's meant to be. At least they didn't go for Vampire of Blood Pool.
Leo Ortiz
You still stream?
Kayden Stewart
Of course we are /hannyrape/ is our home.
Asher Foster
Nigga I never stopped streaming, but I haven't streamed anything Alicesoft related since Evenicle (which I never finished). I'd be streaming Moon Dwellers right now if Sony weren't cunts and requiring an HDMI splitter for me to get around that copyright.
Brody Parker
...
Angel Jones
Arunaru kinda depressed me on Moon Dwellers' translation.
Extra so, because national shame and all.
Jacob Thompson
>SEA Translations What did you expect?
Dylan Russell
Coustwell best Moon Dweller
Juan Lewis
Eh, the lack of spacing after periods bothers me far more than the translation.
