Play a character with no competitive viability for the greatest ranking gains. Winning as, say, Torbjorn will give you more shit than winning as Genji or Zenyatta.

You need 65 to get the maximum reward. 60 will only get you 200 points, instead of 300.

But I had to crawl out of skill level 43 after going 6-4 in my placements.

Going from 53 to 60 was 20 games though. The trench is literally a thing, and yes, its miserable.
