M8 it can't not work. You must have dome somethign wrong. Houses can have spots with no walls in them as long as those spots don't exceed certain dimensions, but I know that a 1x2 window does not exceed it at all.

It prevents you from selecting a hotbar item by clicking on it. It's pretty handy if you move the cursor around a lot.
