It literally explained one of the most retarded and jarring events on MG1 and MG2.

Having Venom Snake being the Big Boss you face in MG1 fixes both of those retarded plot holes entirely while giving us the same "meta" bullshit that Kojimacucks drool over.

Basically what i'm saying is that the story was actually pretty great, the way it was told (cassette, poorly paced, lack of dialogue from Venom Snake etc) was bad, i.e the narration.
