if cadet is not translated then you installed the game's translation wrong.
If you mean you don't get overlay subs for AA1 personalities then you didn't get those.

Yeah, I don't get overlay subs for the HexaPP personalities. I think it applies to all of them, and not just AA1 personalities. At times it'd load completely wrong lines as well.

And I don't know what'd have gone wrong with Cadet, I folowed the steps I was assigned but that was long before I knew of /aa2g/ so I did things with HF patch

I suggest you do everything over. If you don't know what you could've done we won't know any better. Get the pre-install from the OP, read the FAQ until you've memorized it and install the subs overlay + some subs(they don't come with it)

Now THIS is interesting.

The tail does not have any bones. The bones you see there are the bones that come with the body01 mesh in the nude body. What I'm trying to do is figure out what the mesh is latching onto. Since it has no bones of its own, the game is giving it default ones, much like the defaultface for missing faces. If I can use different frame names and get the same results, I can get tricky with the meshes I hope.

So you're going to see if the same will apply to the wings? Maybe they behave differently simply because the area you're trying to set them to behave differently than where the tail is.
It's unlikely but a small possibility.

Since I can't use the same frame for the tail and wings (as we saw yesterday), I needed to split them up. Since body01 works for the tail, I can play with body00 for the wings now and see if there's a way to get them working properly on that. Or even another part of the frame. I'll be looking at the bones of the various meshes in the nude body to see if there are more likely candidates for good 'default bones.'
Keep doing what you're doing. It's productive and can give insight into things that other people might not have considered. A lot of mods are fixed or refined by "uninformed" suggestions that think outside the box.

The next step is to make a body00 and body01 combined mesh with 2 tails and to try it in game. This should work with both tails bound to the same point, since I haven't changed the imported second mesh at all.

As expected based on the last test, this works fine. So any mesh that's bound to the hip area can be set up using body00 or body01 frames and then added to a hair slot, and it'll still work.

Now to try a new frame that focuses on the upper body. Unfortunately those are rare in the naked mesh, and I'm trying to limit myself to ones in the e01 file since I can't be sure p01 bones will latch.

Not as planned. The mesh still worked, but it still latched on to the exact same point.It's persistently grabbing that hip area.

I have a bad experience with TEATIME's games, though I imagine it's like finding AA with no mods, outdated HF patch and shitty optimization. I guess it can be used purely for screenshots and some similarly-styled nonOCs. I don't have any in mind though.

I think this might be the issue. It's some kind of root bone that's not listed in the frames, but shows up when the meshes are highlighted. It's in all of the meshes of the body and it's right at the hip area that the mesh is latched to. Hopefully Mahiru's bone guide lists it.

I took a look at it. There are a few problems I am facing right now.
* A hair slot mesh seems to dislike body bones
By setting the mesh with under the null_body frame it doesn't accept bones animations and stays static in the space.

* A hair slot mesh without body bones won't attach itself to any bone but the hip bone, thus any body area other than the hips can't be used for new boneless accessories. If you try to do so anyway you won't get good results, as the further you go away from the hip the bones can move more and more and so the mesh won't appear to move properly.
