Has anyone ever driven a 6 speed Scion tC? Wondering if it's worth checking out vs a Civic Si as a more practical alternative. I tested the automatic and it was terrible.

The civic si will always reign supreme

My scion shits on civics all day.

Why anyone would buy a POS TC over an SI is beyond me

Scions are more fun to drive, not everybody has 3 of them.

If you're buying fwd, you aren't buying for performance anyway. The scion gets slightly better mpg and looks a lot nicer. Also, dat stereo.

I leased a manual 15 and was very pleased
It is very stable, sounds very nice and practical
However, it is not the least bit sporty. Having a 6 speed does not make it a race car, know what you are signing up for.

How is a Tc more fun than an Si? The Si has superior suspension, limited slip differential, more hp and torque, sportier short geared transmission, better stock tires, weighs less, basically better in every single way other than gas mileage. Even the aftermarket it worlds better.

I have a 6 speed tC, supremely roomy, the rear seats fold down, I carried a van load of spare parts and shit this way.

the SI is fwd, it doesn't have a differential. Doesn't have more HP or torque, weighs very slightly less, and looks like every other fwd on the road.

This guy is fucking retarded.
>doesn't have a differential
What is LSD?
>Is not faster
The civic si from 2006 and beyond has more horsepower than all tcs ever made even the TRD one.
>is fwd
So is the tc you stupid fuck.

Wew lad, go to sleep.
The Si does have a limited slip differential. So do many other fwd cars (i.e. GTI).

Si has 30 more hp and a much sportier transmission geared towards performance.

>Fwd doesn't have differential
All my wat

...

Kek did he really think the tc was RWD

Nobody has ever thought this.

It's not a bad transmission, 5 to 4 is kind of sluggish. Good for a sporty dd

If they would just make the si RWD nobody would ever bother with this conversation. Scion is dead.

did.

Naww AWD.

Plus, this shouldn't be a conversation anyways. The Tc isn't even in the same class as Si. Si is obviously faster.

No he didn't. He said FWD's don't get limited slip differentials and that the SI looks boring.

The SI has nothing special about it, just another lump of metal. AWD would be useful, but not as fun as RWD.

The Si doesn't even get worse MPGs if you're actually being practical with your calculations and not just looking at ratings.

I've driven a 6 speed manual tC. Drive one. It makes a world of difference. They are legitimately fun to drive. Don't listen to all these bus riders jealous of their neighbor's Scion's.

Get the Scion. That way there will be one less faggot ruining the far superior Si.

...

That's stupid, the Si is a POS compared to rwd cars. Why would anyone even bother unless they were some ricer?

nice shitposting

I wonder how much of a difference these mods would make on the tC

nah he just doesn't understand what a differential is

I started laughing as I read his post anticipating the replies

>$1675 brake kit

5hp exhaust, no change with strut brace, 5hp intake, better braking, stiffer ride.

>5hp exhaust
>5hp intake

So not much different from aftermarket parts.

I remember seeing a K&N intake on the shelf at Autozone once with a disclaimer that read >dyno'd to add 15 hp!*
>*model dynoed 2003 Mustang SVT Cobra*

>5hp from a un-tuned exhaust change

wew lad

That's all it is, aftermarket parts with "trd" stamped on it.

Mopar has stage 1-3 packages for the 5.7 hemi. They say with a intake, exhaust and their own tune you could get 20hp

They have factory warranty too and won't interfere with dealer mantainence

I'm curious to know the answer as well, I always secretly liked the tC's.

The manual makes a night and day difference. Drive one. I did.

I don't like the look of the new one. As far as I can tell they're just sportier looking, two door Toyota Corollas

There's a TRD tC?

unofficially, if you deck it out with all the TRD upgrades

You've made me laugh today. Kudos to you.

How is a fucking coupe more practical than a four door sedan? are you falling for the le civic si is bad meme?

Yeah it's supercharged

...

Neat. I know of one that had a supercharger, but he sold it, and the kid he sold it to blew it up.
Ah. I remember those now.

That's not unbelievable though.

I heard the clutch pedal is a bit high and the throws are kinda long. Is it easy to get used to? I know it won't be as nice as the Si

It is but you adjust to it quickly, the clutch is very light. I think the trd quickshifter would be a good investment though

For the 2nd gen? Didn't know they offered one. It's not on Scion's website as a performance upgrade.

The supercharger was only offered on 2005-2007 cars. The system was built by Vortech and had a TRD badge slapped on. They stopped making the system because the bearings inside were shit and once the bearings were shot, it would rattle and vibrate so hard it would grenade the engine. You can get aftermarket bearings and rebuild the supercharger to fix the problem. But there's no supercharger for the 2011+ cars with the 2.5L.

The Civic SI is better in every single way than the Shiton TC, aside from being uglier. I'd buy neither though, and get some model of the FRBRF86, it's slower than the SI but since I won't be keeping any car I own stock that's of little concern. I would very much like a toyobaru with a non-shit-tier amount of power.

>yfw the tC is faster than the FR-S because of the tC's superior torque output and more usable powerband

>tC is faster than the FR-S
Even though that wouldn't suprise me because of how toyota and subaru gimped the car, I'm gonna need a [citation] bro

>some crummy youtube video that doesn't control for drivers
sorry that's not good enough. I was hoping for instrumented test results.

wew

Here's the part number
>PTR54-21100

Way to cheap out there Vortech.

As another user already said, roomy as fuck both for passengers or trunk space. As for the 6 speed manual it's definitely more fun and I feel it's faster than its automatic counterpart

...

This isn't anything to be proud of

It's Veeky Forums's job to say only a faggot would get a tc over an si

Nothing wrong with tCs if you get the manual. The automatic transmission is just plain bad, not even trying to make fun of autofags, it's just bad.

There may not be anything wrong with it, but if money is an issue there isn't any reason why you should buy it over an Si.
Maybe if you really love how it looks, but then you just have shit taste.

There's a significant price difference

Not to mention the insurance and gas on the tC will also be cheaper

tC is just a cheaper car to own and has just as good reliability. Obviously the Si is more engaging to drive, but the tC is a more comfortable daily driver that's still sort of sporty.

The insurance part isn't true. tC's come with a high insurance cost because so many boyracers crash them.

If money isn't* an issue

Whoever says it's a 2 door Corolla or Camry is fucking dumb.

>forged wheels
>racing tires
>lowering springs
>camber kit
If you did this to a Camry it would be just as fast. If it's a V6 Camry it would be way faster. As for a Corolla it might still be a tad bit slower due to less torques.

>mfw all those boyracers probably drive automatics

Yeah probably only faggots drive tC's and most faggots also drive automatics. So that makes sense.

Scion marketing manager here

Why do you young people hate our car? We thought it was cool and hip.

>scion tc
dodge charger

It barely redlines over 6k rpm, can't imagine how that would be any fun with the 6 speed
