So uhh, I know you need a clean and smooth surface to apply stickers, but is it save to cover some scratches? I scratched a bumper on a light post or something, and it will take two 8x3 slaps to cover it. I wonder if they'll stick properly and peel off later. There's one somewhat deep scratch, and the rest of the area is scratched allover the surface, but not deep.

thats more or less what bumper stickers were originally for
depending on if theres rust under the paint already though you might get some peeling when you remove it later, but your paints the issue there not the stickers

Nah I just scratched it yesterday, surely it doesn't form that fast. Just don't know how to fix it. Tried the toothpaste thing, but that's bullshit.

you're basically limited to touch up kits or stickers, and with hundreds of shades of red being sold its pretty easy to figure out the easier option for the quick fix

the toothpaste thing is actually about making more scratches sort of, just very very tiny ones that make it look even, thats basically how buffing and polishing usually works, most toothpaste is essentially moist chalk dust, so can act as a polisher in some situations but it varies by brand to brand due to additives.
(in the classic survival situation where all you have is a popcan and toothpaste for some reason, ditch the toothpaste and just use fine grit sand or if on hand, wood ash, mixed with your own spit)
