The problem is that all materials have more or less the same drop rate, and the only thing that determines their rank is what drops it.
The difference between the number of "bronze" mobs you can fight and "silver" mobs you can fight is really not enough to justify double the required numbers for bronze mats compared to silver.

You don't need to be a whale to get rare servants though. You just need to be decent about saving up, roll when you can, and get lucky on occasion.
