Why don't you think they just burned wooden forts instead of attacking them? You can't just walk up to the wall and start a fire, you know. Damp wood and those logs would also be hard to catch fire and when they did, it was pretty easy to put out.

trying to burn down enemy fortification has always been a part of siege warfare IRL, like launching burning trebuchet projectiles. The times fire wasn't used it's probably because the fort would have been diserable to capture in good condition.

Ok so it has two improvements over vanilla warband. It has a lot of neat 'sidegrades' though like guns and more involved quests. I list these as sidegrades because im aware some people want no storyline and dislike how powerful guns tend to be in mount and blade at forcing you to cower behind troops and not ride around killing everyone.
Also it has poland which is cool. Largest cavalry charge in history you know. And szablas.
Hussars are really frigthening in that game since their lances are so fucking long, much more terrifying to be at the end of a hussar charge than swadian knights.

Went to a Taleworlds demonstration last night.
Frank walked a group of us through the siege video now on youtube, we got to ask a couple of questions and got press kits with a Tshirt, wooden USB pen drive and stuff.
Overall it was pretty sweet, personal highlight of Gamescom for me (except maybe my own studio's booth).
My question was if the Sturgians are canonically the forebears of Vaegirs or Nords, since there's a lot of contention online.
Of course he immediately recognised I was from /mbg/ and laughed.
The official answer, which he actually has apparently stated a few times before, so I feel okay sharing it here- is basically: Both.

In bayonet fighting there's only two directions to block, which means even the shittiest pleb has a 50% chance to block your attack if he's just spamming up and down. So to git gud in Napoleonic you should learn to get around them and stab them in such a way that the hit box of your bayonet is outside of their hit box for blocking entirely, or that they never get a chance to block.

It has like 300 players on average I think. Enough to play it. I like it, but the gameplay is a bit repetitive (because of the trench warfare setting). If you look for videos on youtube you have to look at newer videos since there has been a huge update which added new/better animations and like 20 new weapons.
