Why are the grind rails so inconsistent in Advance 2? For most zones it's bearable, but when you fly past two without landing on either and plunge into a pit, it's pretty annoying.
Pretty sure they only register at the beginning to keep people from bullshitting their way onto rails even though they didn't go the way that rewarded them with a rail.

you should have gotten at least 2 - 3 extra lives in City Escape alone. Most stages can't really kill you and even then you have to stray away from the main path to fall off the stage.
