I have s dumb question but u want a clear answer from people who have experienced it and used it; dies the new weapon level up system in MHGens make any weapon one that can be used to max tier? Basically does leveling up a weapon make it as strong as a new weapon you can craft at that point? Does an iron hammer, for example, upgraded to max level put it on the same tier as then craftable endgame weapons and keep every weapon on its own asthetic path that's as good as any other weapon of the same level? And does that make upgrading to new designs basically side-grades or does it put them on a stronger upgrade path?

Any weapon fully upgraded is at endgame levels, but most of them are fucking terrible compared to other deeper in a tree weapons. Just go look on kiranico. click on any weapon and collapse all, it'll show the fully upgraded versions and most of them are fucking terrible.

short answer: no

its effectively the same as upgrading weapons in previous games. lets say you have two weapons you're leveling as you progress through the game. both weapons are currently as far upgraded as you can. then you finish an urgent and unlock a new rank. it could very well be the case that one of the new monsters will upgrade one of the wrapons, but the other won't be able to upgrade again until another rank higher.

in the end, however, everything will upgrade to around the same strength, but there will be a few path that are clearly better than the rest

There's a difference between telegraphing and literally being hit by an attack a frame before the animation even starts. WILD ANIMALS and HIGHLY DANGEROUS PREDATORS can't do that, unless you're trying to imply that Garuga can somehow accelerate past the speed of light and then decelerate back to its normal speed within fractions of a second, and despite being a WILD ANIMAL and a HIGHLY DANGEROUS PREDATOR it only uses this ability for a single low damage attack.
