So, how do you hold the steering wheel?

A.

Not sure if that's the "correct" or "only true way" to do it, but when I was learning to drive if I held it any other way my dad would act like I was about to crash into a wall.

I've always had my hands offset at 10 and 4. Is that weird?

I pinch the steering wheel between my thumb and pointer finger at 5 o'clock.

>having both hands on the wheel while not turning

>not holding it at the bottom with one hand

like here but hand at the bottom of the wheel

From what i've heard, it was the old standard taught a while ago, but that 9 and 3 are safer and being taught these days.
Are you a women?

A.

I get a great grip on the wheel, and it doesn't strain my wrists like the one below it. Can't decipher that letter.

3 and 9 master race

>doing anything other than 10 and 2

what alphabet is that?
i hold it top right corner on roads I'm familiar with.
top left on curvy roads that I'm unfamiliar with
top middle in manhattan

the bottom row is retarded, I have never seen such tomfoolery.

>all examples shown involve fingers/thumbs hooked inside the rim
Someone needs to go back to driving school.

Most of the time it's 10-2.
If I was cruising on a straight road in my old commodore I'd rest my left arm on the comfy as fuck center console and hold the bottom of the wheel with my right hand.

I alternate between 9/3, 11/1, and just one hand at 12.

>Left arm on the center console
Hello mr alien.

>steering hand higher than your line of sight
>grabbing your thigh with your shifting hand
Simply disgusting

Does the way I hold my steering wheel trigger you? :^)
Yes it does
No but your failed attempt at a spoiler on a spoiler free board made me laugh.

i criss cross my arms and put my left hand at 3:00 and my right hand at 9:00 just like the current host of top gear

10 and 3
>tfw you're absolutely heretical
Devilish.

I think he's just a non-North American.

>it didn't trigger me but I had to make a post about it
:^)
Left hand at 9.. right hand doing whatever

Depends entirely on what I'm doing.

bottom middle, whatever that letter is, usually just my right hand too

RHD>LHD

what the fuck are these letternumbers

a version of bottom middle usually tbqhfam

At 2 and 8. Drivers side is on the right in my country, and I like to rest my left elbow on top of the centre console while I drive.

9 and 3
outdated picture btw

One hand at the 6 o'clock position, just like dad.

I place my hand on the center of the steering wheel and then apply pressure until I can turn the wheel using the friction alone.

Left hand at 11. Allows me to rest my elbow on the door

It's all greek to me

Seriously, it looks like alpha delta beta zeta phi? and a shitty epsilon

>not turning with only one hand
kek

Are you not supposed to hook your thumbs in the wheel? Is it just a meme from the manual steering days? I guess technically the air bag going off or a collision could break your thumbs. I try not to keep em' hooked whenever I can.

I usually keep my left hand at 9 clock at all times.

I only use my right hand when driving aggressively or taking hard turns.

I grip my wheel using the index finger, middle finger and thumb of my left hand positioned at 7-8 o'clock.

>using hands to steer what is this girl scout camp?

This. If road is hectic then right hand at 3 as well. Cause racecar

10 & 2, but I keep my thumbs on the front of the wheel not wrapped around it. In case of accident, don't want to lose my thumbs.

>I place my hand on the center of the steering wheel and then apply pressure until I can turn the wheel using the friction alone.

Non stop horn action

10 & 2: like a man

>grip my wheel using the index finger, middle finger and thumb of my left hand as if I was holding another man's penis

>Thumbs hooked into wheel
>Crash
>Hands go forward above wheel
>No more thumbs

It's a rare thing to happen but just in case.

why would you ever do this? i never understood it

it's not comfortable, so do people learn to do it by looking at their dad and thinking it's cool?

i wonder who the first guy who did this was

I always thought the same thing. How can that be comfortable to have your arm like that constantly? If I'm holding the wheel with one hand it's always somewhere between 9 and 6 o'clock.

...

you know that symbol is used in japan to denote new drivers who have had their license for under a year, right? Are you proud of being a shitty driver?

...but muh JDM...

so you're jealous that I have more control in three fingers than you do in both of your hands?

9 and 3 u less I'm on a straight highway on my way home from work. In which case, 7 with right hand changing CDs

you're basically telling yourself to "fuck you" thus ultimately at the end saying "go fuck yourself" to yourself

I just use my knee so I can roll a blunt or text

>9 and 3 when going really fast or cornering on the twisties
>4 fingers at 7 and 5 with my hands resting on my knees when in cruise control
>left hand at 12, right hand on the stick in traffic and when taking turns in the city

>tfw have always done 9 and 3 even when nobody told me to because it was just where i naturally put my hands
I don't understand all you people with your whacky bullshit hand shit, what the fuck is even going on in the OP pic?

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoshinsha_mark
"The mark is also increasingly being used by JDM enthusiasts in other countries, such as Australia, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, the UK, and the U.S.A. to show their passion and interest in JDM culture. Some have taken the Shoshinsha shape and replaced the original green and yellow colors with their own flag to distance themselves from the "beginner" label, while still showing their enthusiasm for JDM car culture. There are even sites specializing in producing these "custom" wakaba badges. Thus, in countries besides Japan, the shoshinsha mark has become more of a decorative decal rather than a traffic warning."

It appears the weaboos don't even care what it means as long as it's Japanese,

10 and stick does the trick.

10 and dick in traffic.

>From what i've heard, it was the old standard taught a while ago, but that 9 and 3 are safer and being taught these days.
That's because at 10-2, you'll punch yourself in the face when the airbag goes off, as well as break your wrists.

Oldfag here, I originally learned 10-2, but since then I've had to adapt to 9-3 because road racing

who says it's him grabbing his thigh?

>tfw no more commodore

>left hand on bottom of steering wheel unless hard turn
>right hand on cars nob or my own

Dat dad position

a when hooning

I have to admit I take tons of liberties when I drive that I probably shouldn't. I'd be surprised to pass my driver's test with a decent score like I did when I was a teenager.

9 and 3 is the way of the godhand

I'll never buy a holden again.

Right hand at 2 while left hand is on the door

:D

Are you selling a Honda on CL or have recently bought one?

>left elbow on door
>left hand at 9/10
>right hand at 2/3 or shiftan
or when lazy
>left elbow on door and hand
>right hand at 2/3 or shiftan

Its russian, but in cursive.

>left hand high up in air waving giving middle finger
>right hand high up in air waving in circles giving middle finger
>400 pound friend from passenger seat leaning over controlling wheel and shifter
>right foot on gas only
>can't into clutch, just keep screaming "GID DIMN IT!!!!!!!!" as the car stalls out and kicks itself a foot forward
>keep starting the car and only moving forward a foot each time
Guess my country

this man knows whats comfy

Liek dis

City:
Left hand at 9
Right arm on armrest, hand on stick

Country:
Right hand at 12,
left arm on open window

>resting your hand on the shifter

do you rest your foot on the clutch pedal too

Hell yeah fuck all that wiggling and shifting around. Just get comfy and chillllllllll g

You hold it at 9 and 3 unless you want your hands degloved when the airbag deploys.

my mother holds it like bottom middle but her palms are facing upwards instead
its infuriating

Left knee on 6, left hand out the window, right hand on the shifter.

do you turn left a lot?

10 and 2, my arms get tired but I like to feel in control

>Not driving God arm style
It's the only way you should drive

>Someone needs to go back to driving school.
Or see their orthopedic surgeon when the front wheels catch a rut, spin the wheel and fold your thumbs over backwards.

...

>Its russian
Which hand holds the vodka?

>ebay steering wheel

That duck tape episode was awesome

>hands degloved when the airbag deploys
Least of my worries.

> Suicide knob

>no hand on 6 with a 5th of vodka in the other hand

Is this cuck central?

9:00 and 3:00 most of the time.
10:00 and 4:00 or 8:00 and 2:00 if sitting at a stoplight, waiting to turn.

When taking a fast turn, do most of you tense your core and lean into the turn, fighting the centrifugal force, or do you stay loose and allow your body to lean completely towards the side of the car?

9 and 3 or 8 and 4

same

Top left while driving through city roads.
Bottom middle while on highways or pretty straight roads in general.

With my hands

You know it, bb.

ej6?

I high noon it with the right hand errday, or with the left if I'm driving stick

Shit, is that why?
