English readers, I'm happy for you guys that you are finally going to be able to read DI. But I just feel the need to get you guys as prepared as possible.

Release is only a year away, but you aren't going to be able to read DI right away. DI aspires to be something greater than most other VNs, so it's important that you make sure you use some outside readingin order to have the best possible experience.

In short, to fully understand the intricacies and depth of DI, you're going to need to study Philosophy and German lit for about 2-3 years.

For philosophy, you're going to want to start by building a strong base with the Greeks and moving throughout history until you end up hitting modern continental philosophy.

On the German literature side, you're going to want to start in the 16th century and move through the different authors and movements all the way up until the end of the interwar period.

Special consideration needs to be given to Hegel, as DI is strongly influence by his work "Phänomenologie des Geistes". After Hegel, make sure you develop a strong background with the Young Hegelians and Nietzsche, as their influence on DI can't be discounted either.

After you ensure that you build a proper knowledge base, I'm sure you will be able to fully appreciate just how good Dies Irae is.
