Are the new Golf's good cars? Not the GTI, just the base model for reliable fuel efficient transportation

Bump

ANYONE??? WHAT THE FUCK

Tdi is the only one worth it.

I really love that shade of blue. Reminds me of my first car.

I'd go for a diesel, manual preferably to avoid DSG reliability issues and higher DSG servicing costs. The Diesel golfs do use a stronger 6 speed DSG box I believe however. It's the 7 speed you gotta be wary of

Actually it's the 6 that is the crappier DSG.

5 was good, 7 corrected 6 problems.

DSG+diesel though, nah.

What about the base 1.8 TSI?

Not gonna waste time giving advice on 4chinz.

Everything I could say, some nigger WILL come and say the contrary, so fuck it.

Learn to do your own choices OP.

Read, consider, do your own pros and cons and man the fuck up.

Veeky Forums hates Golfs and VW's, they only like murrican and nip shit

I am curious to, I really want to get a 4 door TSI manual. D:! But I am afraid of the reliability issues, I don't want to spend so much on a car only for it to be absolute shit.

No they aren't reliable anymore and cost a lot more to repair than jap cars

I mean yeah, compared to what. Good can be pretty objective.

>butthurt vw driver
Your car looks like a loaf of bread

i hate golf but moslty because of all the 1.4 TDI guys who thinks they have a nice cars and they're overpriced as shit here but they seems to have quite average reliable at least the TSI model ones i wouldn't go for new diesel thought

They were never reliable

Can't speak for the newest ones, last 2-3 years, but manual VWs always seem to be bad or at least sub par with brakes.

Better than walking

no it isn't. The 1.8tsi petrol engine is insanely efficient. I get almost 40 mpg on mine. and the TDI about 6k more for about 10mpg more? Not to mention they are neutered ever since the scandal. ALSO, you can tune that 1.8 hard!

An APR tune alone will make that 170 hp engine into making 250hp.

SO NO.

I will actually say the gasoline engine in this case is actually better finally.

The EA888 engine is simply amazing.

I own a golf tsi and i would say the only issue with it is that they will release golf 8 soon so you might want to wait for that. In the city it is 8liters per 100 kms for me. But if i tried it would be below 7 i think. Also, afaik 1.2 tsi and 1.6 diesels have bad rear suspension, so dont go for those engines.

are your side view mirrors electronic folding?

Also, where did you get those wheels?

Standart highline wheels and feature. I also forgot, dont go for the auto version, more problematic than manual while being unfun.

Do you plan on tuning yours?

I went with the tsi s trim. I kind of regret it because of the lack of climate control.

I'm also very bitter about the new headunits that support iplay and android play being released soon after i bought my tsi.

I'm thinking about changing the air filter which i heard is very limiting on VW vehicles but apart from that nothing else really. Dont wanna fuck with the reliability of VW which is a dangerous area

I heard turbos are failing left and right?

hear anything about that?

If they messed with the boost range of the turbos it will be unreliable but without messing with it no i havent heard that.

Yes. The usual memers couldn't name a better 4 door hatch.

Americans hate it because US market Golfs are made by mexicans and have shit reliability because of that. Everywhere else it's an amazing commuter car, there's a reason it's a classleading car for over 40 yers. Others might beat it in handling or fun or utility, but no car can compete with this package as a whole.

>5 or 3 door hatch

ftfy

VAGs kinda like eating turbos, especially when they're remapped.

yes . I have a golf and i love it , my neighbor liked his so much , he bought another for his wife . But they are not top tier in any one category , except for maybe handling .

tuning the engine will compromise the empeegees
also who in the fuck would tune a base, non-GTI/R golf

>compromise

It usually increases them.

maybe in your bizarro world

Is the DSG in the 1.8 Tsi bad?

used tdi > 1.8. Fuck off. Who cares about tuning?

It's not a manual and requires service more often. It's shit.

I thought dual clutch transmission is good shit, that's what all the enthusiasts say

>tuning an economy turbo

I hate faggots like you. They make higher performance models for a reason.

Why would you spend money on a GTI, if you can get the lesser-model to get a better power output?
Unless you're going autocross.

Engine power is not the only thing you pay for in a GTI.

DSG gearboxs are good, diesel engines suck and the 1.4 petrol engine sucks, the 1.8 dsg may be a good choice
