name one emulator with better snow
>protip: you can't

Get PCSXR with PGXP. The only reason to use epsxe is if you are running a toaster or android.

...

Alright, will do. Thanks!

wats the name of that japanese rpg?

Kega Fusion

Can we have a wikipedia article now?

wow such innovations like save states, cheats and shaders
truly retroarch(tm) is the savior of retro gaming

How to increase mednafen's internal resolution?

You're playing with the mednafen core in RetroArch, right? Start the game, then open the menu and go to Options.

>mednafen core in RetroArch
Nope. I'm looking at the manual and apparently stretch, scale, xscale, etc. is where I should be looking at. I can always build RA again, this time without all of the cores.

>Nope.
Then you can't. Increasing the internal resolution is only implemented in the libretro port (RetroArch version).

Well that stinks. Might as well go for it since Parallel might be a thing.

Just use something like PCSXR if you want to raise the internal resolution of a game.
That way you can also use the better GTE Hacks and higher overclocking.

RetroArch cheats are missing a bunch of games

Do I need anything to run CPS3 games? I know I need neogeo.zip to run Neo-Geo, qsound.zip to run CPS1-2, but does CPS3 need a BIOS to run? Can't really find anything on Google.

The Emugen wiki says that emulating the N64's actual 3-point sampled texture filtering will fix alignment issues (pictured here is no texture filtering)

Are their cheats still spread out on a per.game basis? Spamming your HDD with 10.000+ individual cht files is not healthy

And yet, with that turned on in RetroArch's mupen64plus core's settings...

tfw the issue follows you to another emulator entirely

Can people post their config screens for Pete's OpenGL2 Tweak plugin please? Alternatively, are there any other good graphics plugins?

Shining Force 3 I think.

yes but it still downloads all of them at once
i would prefer an option to download cheats on a system by system basis

looks like billinear to me, fampai. 3-point doesn't have that characteristic diamond-shaped blurriness.

Did you get PCSXR from here? :
ngemu.com/threads/pcsxr-pgxp.186369/

If not then do so. If yes then try disabling offscreen drawing.
Also see if the error is replicated using the software plugin. If it does then mednafen would be your last bet. If even that doesn't work then it could be your video card drivers.

Your best bet when emulating N64 is to run it unfiltered but I guess you found that out yourself.

To the guy who wanted an example, this is the shit we are talking about.

>inb4 it happens in mednafen too

mupen-libretro has had that bug forever where it just always goes to bilinear unless you toggle the option while the game is running.

>So the thing is, I set the refresh rate back to default and use d3d, no issues on windowed mode.
OGL sucks. Would be nice if RA fixed D3D for xmb.

>RA fixed D3D for xmb.
Windows is always a second class citizen in RA

libretro.com/index.php/making-windows-a-first-class-libretro-citizen/

It's a second class citizen for Twinaphex because he hates Windows and is anti-Microsoft. There's nothing stopping others from improving the Windows-only features though.

i can't for the life of me figure out how to emulate cps3

Get FBA
Get the ROM
NOTE: FBA uses different CPS3 ROMs than MAME
Play

>NOTE: FBA uses different CPS3 ROMs than MAME
This is what fucks me up. How am I supposed to know if I'm downloading the right ROM.
Is there a fullset anywhere for FBA that lets me download ROMs individually?

This is probably the closest you'll get

epforums.org/showthread.php?93425-ARCADE-EMULATOR-ROM-SET-Final-Burn-Alpha-029738-Complete-Arcade-Rom-Set

>Windows is always a second class citizen in RA
Treating Windows users as second class citizens is a terrible idea, if you care about popularity.

I guess I should stick to emulators that treat Windows users as first class citizens.

What game is this?

Because most people contributing to it are doing it for RetroPie, Lakka, or other Linux setups, or for consoles. Very few contributors are doing anything for Windows, perhaps because it's not fun to develop for.

Your drivers suck. The API in use should not make a huge difference.

>Nvidia Master Race

>He wants software development to be fun
I don't see how it's fun on anything. Is development on Linux a Dragon's Dogma battle?

>Is development on Linux a Dragon's Dogma battle
He said development on Linux is fun though

What kind of shit OS/filesystem combo are you running where that is an actual problem? Fucking autist.

Windows is a huge pain to develop for, yes.

Windows/NTFS just like what everyone else uses

And 10k small files has a noticeable impact on it? That's just pathetic if true.

It's Syphon Filter. Wouldn't recommend it, I'm playing for nostalgia. The controls are beyond awful.

Is there any reason for them to not be combined into a single file?

For instance, my DS flashcard cheat database is a single file and is fine. Drastic does the same thing.

>bought Xenogears on PSN to play on my vita
>that fucking text speed
looking at emulating this game to make it playable, is Mednafen or PCX-R the better choice?

I've got an i5 4570 and an r9 290, so I'm not running it on a toaster.

They both look good. What do?

I emulated it for a while, what's wrong with the textspeed that emulation would suddenly fix?

Keep in mind I didn't reach the novel on disc 2.

There's a code to make the text speed faster.

And there's a big overhaul romhack for it.

The textspeed is dreadfully slow to me, and I can't recall there being a button to skip through or speed it up. I bought it a few weeks ago, but only recently did my brain realize I could emulate it. I can read the text twice over before it finally goes away and it ends up really bothering me.

A Dragon's Dogma battle is possibly the most fun thing to come out of gen 7+

Windows as an OS contains about 150,000 files. Is that a problem?

>Windows is a huge pain to develop for, yes.
I find that very hard to believe, desu senpai. Windows has more professional software, which helps make development easier imo.

>ADD kids

Disc 1 has probably 4x as much text as disc 2.

Didn't say it was a problem.

I fucked up and accidentally screenshotted Bilinear there.

It's true that the alignment issue is there either way, though.

Windows programming tools don't support controllers. And you all know how big RA kids are on using controllers for everything.

This is some good shit. Is there a specific name or something that I should be searching for to find this? Mostly finding the same romhack thing that changes the voices in the FMVs to Japanese.

>ADD kids
What about reading something twice over before I can finally moves on implies that I have ADD? I just want to be able to continue text at a reasonable speed, for someone with above a third grade reading level.

but disc2 is almost only text

You can't wait for the text to progress. You're supposed to contemplatively bathe in the beautiful words of Takahashi and dwell on them.

That's why it's 15x shorter than disc 1

When only one brand of graphics cards have good drivers for a particular API, then it's fair to say that the API sucks, imo.

I don't think it's a coincidence that almost every OGL shill I've come across, are NVIDIA users. Even if I buy an NVIDIA card, I'll still prefer vulkan or even D3D over OGL.

There's the 2.0 romhack that is mostly an undub.

As for text speed, it's a gameshark code. So you need an emu that supports gameshark codes.

:^)

I don't need to dwell on ALL of the text in the game though, nor is all of it even meant to be reflected on. I'm certain this is a bait post, but talking to some dude about finding someone in the hangar doesn't require the text speed to move at the pace it does.

I use the tears of AMD users as lube for jacking off.

OH! Okay, great. Do either Mednafen or PCX-R offer that?

It really depends on what you mean by a 'bait' post. Basically, reading over something slowly and taking the game in at a comfortable, slow pace is what you should be doing. If you can't play the game like that, you shouldn't even bother; you don't like it. When I find myself rushing through some modern game just to get to the end and speedreading through dialogue, that's when I quit it. Because I can tell I don't actually enjoy it.

epsxe or pcsxr.

We have a Wii emulator since it's so similar to the Gamecube, right? Xbox 360 and PS3 seem like they're never going to get there.

I'm not trying to rush it though. I want to take my time with it, but I don't find how slow the text moves to add to my enjoyment. It instead takes away from it. I'd like to read the game at a comfortable pace, for ME. So I can play at a pace that I find comfortable.

Every conversation feels like I'm doing an escort mission with an NPC that keeps getting stuck on walls. I don't need that long for EVERYTHING. If I want to take time to re-read something, or sit and think about it, I'll do that. I don't however want to read at a child's pace for the entirety of a game, especially one that is going to become a novel on the second disk.

It's not even like I'm speedreading the dialog, it's just really slow. I am not the only person that thinks this. There are countless posts about the slow text speed on forums all over the place. I don't mind tons of reading either. I read for fun outside of games, but the pace of it for all of the text in the game is a bother, rather than a boost to the game.

appreciate you, my nigga.

Coo.

CUTE

Not him, I do agree though.

Currently I'm having a tough time starting anything because my time is fairly limited and in a few weeks I just won't have free time at all to play anything and truly enjoy it. So I get into an RPG and on the back of my head I'm constantly feeling like I have to rush it. Which stops my enjoyment as well.

WET AND COLD

Too complex: PS3

Someone else offered another explanation for PS3 but I forget what it was.

I'm considering buying a gtx 1060, but I heard nvidia has problems with vulkan and d3d12. Where can I read about these issues? Seems like the only other good choice for me is the rx 480.

youtube.com/watch?v=ZPnY5omALfE

For emulation it's pretty much always going to be NVIDIA because they have the Linux community by the balls. They're going to set the benchmark for functionality regardless of merit.

Whether you should base a $200~300 video card purchase on emulator performance is another discussion.

Kind of sad that an open source focused community is still beholden to one corporation in any area.

Hey /emugen/
Give me some fun romhacks to play
Gen4 and back tho

I understand that Nvidia has better OGL support and a lot of emudevs are OGL fans. I plan on installing win 7 on new computer. I'm going to be playing more games on emulator.

Seems like the 1060 generally has better performance based on the benchmarks I've seen. It seems like the 1060 is also the better deal overall. It's just that I'm more concerned about vulkan and d3d than OpenGL and I hear some pretty bad things about Nvidia.

Extra Mario Bros
Rockman 4 Minus Infinity
Super Nazi Penis Cartel Freedom Fighters

Yeah, like, I dunno. G-Sync is completely fucked as a display standard, and NVIDIA has flat out bad async compute support, but so far they've been able to make both problems go away by throwing money at them.

I think NVIDIA is the safe bet for the moment. The RX480 is probably going to turn out surprisingly good in the long run, but if you upgrade every 3 years anyway, you'll be better off with a 1060.

Whatever you do don't get the 3GB version, it's gimped and by that I mean not just the memory halved.

>I'm considering buying a gtx 1060, but I heard nvidia has problems with vulkan and d3d12.
They don't support async compute, which means those APIs don't run as fast as they could on NVidia. They're still faster than DX11 and OpenGL though.

>Is there any reason for them to not be combined into a single file?
You'd need some sort of database system to not waste time searching through the file for the relevant section, and just plain text is much easier to edit. No need to update the whole database when only a single entry has been altered.

Is there any good reason not to logically split the cheats into files per game, other than your autistic obsession with keeping file counts low? Have you ever managed to run out of inodes on a partition?

I'm really fed up with you and the "opening a PC is the scariest thing in the world" guy yapping about your mental illness all the fucking time.

If you just use .NET and whatever limited crap their latest fad API is this month I'm sure it's relatively straightforward, but try getting some real work done and you'll have it rough with their decades of cruft and special snowflake shit all over.

>some sort of database system

Alphabetically sorted lists have logarithmic access time and linear insertion. That's totally acceptable for a few MB text file. I wager it's a good deal faster on average than pulling directory listings from the filesystem every time.

Can DeSmuMe on RetroArch use the DS's BIOS and start up menu and stuff? Can I netplay Pictochat?

Plugin based emulators are broken. Use mednafen.
>>that fucking text speed
God help you if you ever reach disc 2.

It isn't the plugins that are the problem. It's the manual adjustment of settings

this worked surprisingly well

You get used to the text speed. Just grin and bear it.
