Yea it's pretty broke. I've had readable ones like where a heart surgery failed and the health tab showed a incision on torso, but a lot of the time it's what you described.

I've tried to install a wooden leg on someone, had the operation botch, then had to patch up a brain injury. Or another one where I wanted to amputate an infected leg. Doc botched it, and amputated the wrong damn leg.

Doctors in Rimworld are blind motherfuckers, I swear.

yeah. For my last colony I forgot to pick permadeath.
Afte i realized that i was like "well, I'm not gonna savescum anyway" but I caught myself way too often just closing the game when shit hit the fan.
Glad i let it die after the last catastrophe. Was a decent end for them.

I also learned the hard way to check health status before capturing someone.
In vanilla you can't do anything when someone has a broken spine. Can't even release them and throw them out.
So you basically have to kill him or feed him for the rest of his miserable life.
I suggest harvesting some organs and then euthanize him. Or kill him by harvesting the heart or something, but i think the mood debuff is larger that way.

The gods of RNG have smiled upon me. Unfortunately I am still short of it for the analyzer

Meanwhile no plasteel from digging yet. The only plasteel in the map is probably in my mountain walls lmao

I've got four colonists missing an arm now and haven't seen a single bionic arm available in years.

Most space traders will have them. Depending on your luck getting those fuckers.

I've had six space traders now and none had arms.

Plenty of eyes, though. Also lungs and kidneys but I can harvest those.

They dig really fucking fast and they don't have anything more important to do atm. This is my most successful game so far. I think I'll either find plasteel and gold and finish the game or I'll die from infestation

Might be worth making some doors with all that spare stone so you can make a furnace for when you do get an infestation.

I sorted it out before I took a pic. Took a bit of kiting but still annoying.

My base is pretty big, and it happened in a remote corner of my base that doesn't really have anything important. I've got a geothermal over there, a few empty bedrooms (some who used it shacked up with others, and some died), and a few fields that aren't being used because it's winter.

What happens if you land on an island?

How to make non-ugly colonies? I try, but I can't get out of my square habit.

Nothing's different, except on coasts, where you have a huge body of water on one side.

Grenades are way too overpowered.

Three raiders just showed up all with grenades and they took out all seven of my colonists without even getting hit.

Sheriffs are possibly THE worst of all the adult backstories. Moreso if their childhood prevents them from engaging in combat. You're doing yourself a favor by mercy-killing the useless fuck.

what determines a hive popping up? just strasight RNG or does it take into account is you're playing like a turtle holed up in a mountain entirely or does it not matter if you have a single tile of mined underground vs all of it mined

Basically can spawn anywhere that's dug into a mountain. Only thing that determines it

so is it safe to assume that more area dug into mountain = more chance of hive appearing? or is it roughly the same no matter what?

I harvested a colonist with a annoying and shit stats and 3 of my colonist got a "my rival died" mood buff.

From what I've seen so far it typically spawns either near or inside your base and always in dug out mountains.

Problem is, this colonist is my best crafter, plus second best builder and shooter. She's just an outstanding member of the community, who happens to be annoying and disfigured.

Behold, the biggest booby prize of all backstory combos.

I swear I remember seeing one who could only do Animals, and they were at a 2 or a 3.
