Possessed by Sargeras (The dark titan, king of the Burning Legion. Biggest bad in Warcraft) from birth because his mother was the Guardian of Azeroth, and his mother vanquished Sargeras, but with the last bit of power he had, he left a piece of his soul within her womb (She was pregnant with Medivh at the time) as he died. So growing up he had the spirit of Sargeras inside him, which fucked with his personality and all that. He was always a bit schizophrenic, cold at times, just kind of a weird and bland dude, but he thought that was just the way he was, he nor anybody else knew Sargeras was inside him.

So eventually, because he became the next Guardian, Sargeras used Medivh as a magical conduit to speak to Gul'dan on Draenor through dreams, and fucked with Medivh's head to sway him into helping Gul'dan open the Dark Portal, which led to the Orcs invading Azeroth for the first time.

He's one of the most important figures ever, and he's bland likely because of, you know, being raised with another person inside of him. The version of him we get in HotS is him AFTER all of that happened. So he's completely himself again, not sharing his mind/body with anybody, and he feels like shit because of what he did to Azeroth, although he WAS possessed by Sargeras, he still feels like shit just because, you know, he was appointed Guardian, and did exactly the opposite of what his duties entailed.

And what's the deal with Karahzan? I know the HS adventure is essentially a parody of the raid, but apparently, the butler character and the opera guy were all in the original wow raid thing, so it wasn't completely new stuff whole cloth.

Oh yeah, and this exists because Medivh used to hold parties and banquets, and plays and all of that fun shit in Karazhan, which is the house of the Guardian, which basically serves as a house of eternal knowledge. So they basically just took that bit of Lore and gave it a Hearthstone spin on it. Which is to say, they just made it stupid and silly for the fun factor.

There are magical leylines that go across Azeroth, Karazhan was built ontop of one such line, making it a gigantic source of arcane magic

Yeah, it's all based on the WoW raid. ALMOST nothing about the Hearthstone raid is original, except in that trailer I just linked, it shows Draenei and Blood Elves and shit, but at the point in time which this is taking place (Which must be early on because Medivh is still young), that is impossible. Blood Elves didn't exist at that point (I'm pretty sure anyway), nor were Draenei hanging around Azeroth and all that shit. So it's just Hearthstone being Hearthstone.

But Karazhan is his house, basically. It's a giant castle.

I mean, they have disco balls and disney parodies. It is just for fun, but I was wondering if the party actually happened.

Since the place was so vournerable to magic, reality started to get a bit funky inside the tower. Things would appear that didn't really exist and people could get visions that made them scream. Moroes was know to use a blindfold in order to avoid these visions and work properly. Wehn Medivh was ressurected, most of the magic was absorbed from the tower, but the damage had been done, and a lot of people who went into the tower at one point never came out ever again. A curse fell upon the tower, making anyone residing within it suffer a fate worse than death.

During Medivhs youth, however, the tower was a glorious site of magic and possibilities. Medivh spent countless hours mastering the craft of magic and would eagerly display any discovery he could to his guests. He did hold countless parties to revered guests across the lands, but as the magic in the tower grew wilder ad Sargeras control grew larger, things eventually went dark in the tower and Medivh wasn't seen for years up until the opening of the dark portal

Ah. So, it was a gradual thing not a cataclysmic event centered around one single party. That makes more sense.

And I guess that means the HS adventure shouldn't end on SUCH a massive downer. I thought like demon possessed medivh was gonna personally kill everyone.

Knowing blizzard, they'll make the end of the adventure pretty spectacular. They love fanservice and Karazhan is probably the best raid WoW has ever had, next to Ulduar of course which I can't wait to see an adventure of

Yepp, even privateservers wont make you experience playing in a guild, stepping inside a newly released raid for the first time together, exploring it's halls and bosses and learning it's mechanics as a team

I really do feel sorry for those who never got to experience that

They had ragnaros in the vanilla set and we still got to visit the molten core, that's not a real problem

They're bringing Karazhan back in the form of a new 9 boss dungeon. It won't be the raid, and it won't be 2007 again, but that's the best any modern day new player will get.

So, anyone here played Brightwing since before the nerfs and buffs and changes? I tried her once way back when, after her nerfs and was awful. I feel like I am getting the hang of it, but I know people were complaining her new build is boring.

I just had two lovely matches with good teamwork. I feel like I should stop playing tonight before it goes to shit
