That guy is making 185+ whp actually
Garage Quinn Motors is his YouTube channel
It's definitely not cost effective but it sounds damn nice. This guy built it more for fun instead of a power goal, he has another miata that is turbo. He wanted to see how much N/A power he could make on the stock bottom end.
some idea of fun.
could probably make 230+ with a full build.
I wanna try to turbo my Miata for cheap like this guy did but I don't wanna drill a hole into the engine for an oil feed is there some other way to do it?
Yeah if it was bored/stroked/high compression on top of everything else
He's rich idk
90-94 have a preexisting port for the oil supply so you would only need to tap the oil pan for the return.
If you have a car built after that you can use a sandwich plate on the oil filter for the feed line or tee off the pressure sender.
you will have to drill into the pan for the drain line.
you can probably use a single outlet oil filter block for the pressure line.
and as far as cheap builds, they are fine for the street and driving like a normie, but if you actually push your car that shit will fall apart.
it's not that expensive to just do it right.
>you can probably use a single outlet oil filter block for the pressure line.
never do this. T off the oil pressure sensor instead.
How come? Not enough oil pressure?
>never do this
why? this is what oil coolers do.
im looking to buy 1990-97 miata, anyone know a good place in southern california that may have some or any online links?
pretty much just browse craigslist or join a local miata club on Facebook and say you're interested in buying a car
Bumping with a rally miats
>suggesting links from that cancer of an enthusiast forum, miata.net
kys desu
>being this faggot
It has a ton of info on there lol. The forum is shit but the garage is pretty useful and the faq is good for people who are new to miatas
This is my concern. Is Craigslist even trustworthy to buy a vehicle? I'm afraid I will get fucked.
It's the same as anything. If you're not on your toes you could get scammed at a used car dealer.
CL just has lots of time wasters and people looking to jack you while you're holding cash.
I'll only go car buying at sketchy locations with a bunch of moody niggers in tow so I'm okay.
says the busrider who's never done any engine work but a hot air filter on his mate's civic
Just bring a friend with you and you'll be fine. Thugs don't really drive/own miatas anyway.
>implications
see you at the track.
nice pic of daddy's car
yeah, my dad builds import cars. good one.
Well I doubt you do, considering you seem to find the concept of building an engine just for fun so strange.
i built the engine in my car. you can doubt all you like from your moms basement.
>0-60 in 10 seconds
Beaten by a Corolla lel
I don't race in straight lines though? dont care
6.1 seconds actually. Not that bad. Faster than a corolla at least
>Faster than a corolla
RACE CAR
Nobody claimed it was a race car m8. It's just a fun car
Is that the new MX5's 0-60? Not bad really
Already had Jackson Racing sway bars, but I bought the Flyin Miata stage 1 suspension for an NA6 with the Koni sports. They're on sale so I got a hell of a deal at 720 bucksish.
Anyone recommend some brakes? I want to get some bigger brake kit and after that I plan on doing power mods.
You could upgrade to 1.8 brakes or NB sport brakes. After that, all you need is good pads, some quality blank rotors, braided brake lines, and that's it.
How much power are you adding? Because unless you're tracking your car, brake mods are not crucial
Yeah that's what road and track got out of it
Probably going to get some info on vinyl wraps this weekend. Still undecided on a color though. What color should I go with?
Guys honestly should i buy a miata? I can get one for roughly 4000 dollarydoos but how much would i need to blow to make it relatively fast, are supercharger projects that difficult with this car? (Talking 1991/1992 model).
Has anyone replaced the rear axle seals on their NA? If so, how shitty was it?
Also I am about to replace my timing belt and water pump, anything I should know going into it?
ignore this post
holy fuck you really have to spend 5K+ to get any decent performance, it's fucking annoying because i borrowed my friends miata for a weekend and it was fun as
Not a miata but...
>that ebay turbo
why dont you post your own car anyway fag?
Hold on I can answer that one for you YOU DON'T HAVE ONE
Do you really need to super/turbocharge your miata for autocross/track days?
Is that a fuel cell in the engine bay?
maybe if you just want to win
you can have lots of fun without it
I just picked up my '94 with 92k this weekend, this was on the 500 mile drive home.
Pretty sure I put more miles on it on Sunday than the original owner did in the last 5 years.
Please consider getting an epic NFS style vinyl
Looks good man. Here's my 99 I got last week, same mileage situation with previous owner
this
your getting a wrap anyway so go all out
4age a best
His engine is build aside from a larger bore. He has the highest compression possible with his cams and pistons to not get any interference.
Just go full weeb
Yep, he even said that he cut bigger valve reliefs into the tops of his (stock) pistons so he could shave his head a little bit more. Crazy.
what are you talking about? its full garrett.
tank for air water intercooler
...
how bad is it that the previous owner filled my MT up with ATF. i went to get it changed and they guy told me it was quite common for a few 90s mazdas and fords to use ATF for their manual trans, so its alright. how fast do i need to change it back?
>not having a turbo car and an NA car
>whining about NA because it's expensive to make power that way
It's like you're bitter and poor or something.
I'd probably change it back as soon as possible unless you want to change out every rubber seal on your trans. ATF likes to swell seals
What does anonymous know off the top of his head about NA8 lifter tick? I've had my 97 for a year and it just ticks sometimes. Some days it does, some it doesn't. Sometimes it does it when it's hot, sometimes when it's cold. Doesn't seem to impact performance, nothing leaks, just ticks. Different oils don't effect it either. I've seen people say not to worry about it, that it's no big deal and cleaning them is a hassle, but you know how people can be.
It is a hydraulic lash adjuster not actuating fast enough because of oil reasons and it is slapping between your cam and the valve. Clean them and it will stop until they get clogged again, don't clean them and it will happen until you clean them
Hey guys, quick question about some weird behavior I've been experiencing with my 01. Basically whenever I accelerate quickly my battery light and abs light turn on and my radio turns off. Everything goes back to normal after easing off the gas or turning my radio off though. Any ideas what the issue might be?
>let's put the air intake right next to the exhaust, the hot air will surely be great for power and resisting pre ignition.
I'd love to do an Itasha style wrap, but I don't know that much about weeb animes. If I had one and someone who actually knew about it came up to me and started talking, I'd kind of feel like an idiot if I knew nothing about it. The only one I really know about is Miharu from Girl's Bravo, which I would definitely do on my car. Don't know if the shop I'm going to would do it either. Part of me wants to just have all the paint work I need done and then do pic related, but I'd rather just change the whole color. Red was the last color I wanted when I was looking for a Miata.
if it's fun as shit who cares
just piece together a turbo kit over time

>hot air intake
I see what you did there

>Team 949 Racing / SuperMiata won E1, E2 and E3 classes at the 3hr NASA enduro at Infineon Sept 30, 2012. The fourth car is owned by Trackspeed Engineering, finishing 2nd in E3. Our team cars finished 4-5-6-7 overall.
works for them I guess. Pic related is another design they use
maybe low oil pressure? my na6 will drop oil pressure sometimes for no reason and then ill be fine again
Is there any cheap stuff you can do on a Miata to improve its handling, power, or aesthetic?
At the moment I don't have a whole lot of cash but I have a decent amount of free time to do things.
185 HP...

Just get a giant vinyl of big fat cat tats across your hood and if anyone asks just be like I don't know I just like catgirls with giant tits, and then get a catback exhaust and the big fat catback sticker from the sticker general thread with the catgirl showing off her ass
You don't actually need to know anything about what anime the characters are from. If they're just anime girls with tits and ass, people will understand. You could theme you car and just do like anime catgirls or blondes or girls with glasses or monstergirls or whatever
Actual itasha is going to cost you a ton in giant custom vinyl so you're probably better off with putting weeb stickers on every window you can by just finding random anime pics you like and ordering smaller vinyls to go everywhere
How cheap are we talking here?
This is my pos when it was stock
This is a more recent pic, still a pos
Need to get a pic of the engine. 94 block/96 head on MS2 with a rebuilt SR20 t25/one off manifold/Toyota COP conversion/coolant reroute/map conversion/sequential fire etc etc making 295whp/270tq at 19psi
While it may work, it's still retarded.
The wheels are nice. What are they? Price? I think I've seen them on good win racing
Advanti Storm S1
It depends on the car.
Once the car is moving at some speed the hot exhaust air can be drawn back under the car along a pressure gradient if a strong enough one exists and literally suck cool air around the hood / through vents and with exhaust wrap the radiating heat may be less important than having a correctly tuned intake length.
Please see this post $600 turbo kit running 7 psi
Can't get cheaper than this without fabricating or doing a junkyard kit.
With 120 torque lol
Precisely why I will never do NA 4 cyl again.
Exhaust shop quoted me 250 for semi custom 3in catback. I am providing the muffler and tip so this is just for the welding/piping/bending using pre bent mandrel. Decent deal?
I don't have a welder or I would do it myself.
Which rim should I pick for my white Miata (NA)?
>that fucking PVC
>black wheels always look bad
I guess the turbos but they are kind of a stancefag wheel
Why do black wheels always look bad? I thought it would pair nice with my black interior.
>Also I am about to replace my timing belt and water pump, anything I should know going into it?
For the timing belt there's tons of guides on Google and Youtube. But buy a repair manual anyway because going through outube videos while wrenching is cumbersome. Also stick extremely close to the instruction when reinstalling the harmonic balancer and torqueing the crakshaft bolt. You do not want to damage the threads in the crankshaft.
You can't see details very wheel on black wheels because they blend together the with the (black) tires and (black) wheel wells/fender liners.
Also kind of ricey because the first thing kids do is plastidip their OEM wheels black or remove wheel covers on their Honda exposing the black steelies.
left one
Do you guys try to fold the top in any particular way when lowering it?
nice u-bend m8
I've read that you're supposed to unzip the window when lowering it. My zipper is stuck closed though so I never do it. I just try and not get any weird creases when I lower my top.
These cancer greens are also an option. They are 17 inch though, compared to the 15 inch ones in the previous picture. My current standard rims are 14 inch.
Should've mentioned, I've got an NB2 with the heated glass window (and no zipper). currently I try to tension it by pulling the window towards the wind diffuser from underneath, but I don't know if that's doing more harm than good.
asheville.craigslist.org
How much should I offer?
honestly, it's pretty good looking and if the guy has proof for the turbo being professionally installed then offer around $5.5k, but expect to pay around 6k. It's honestly a good deal for a clean turbo.
Can I install a regular double din radio in this dash?
