if crafting costs are being decreased in the upcoming patch and a new cheaper path is being added, why do they say material costs are going to increase?

speculation that lots of people are gonna upgrade at the same time once the costs are reduced.
that said, for the cheap path you'll still have to do tons of grinding because of the required new material, so early on people will only be able to take advantage of the reduced costs on the regular path, but can't use the cheap one right away.

what, no. if a lot of people buy something it means demand is higher and if the supply can't meet it it means the prices will rise. This probably only applies to moonstones and other hard to come by materials though.

Not it make it more expensive, it the market has LESS material, than people looking for it. It's what made moonstone go up to 5g in the first place. A lot of people needed moonstones and the game wasn't generating enough so people could use them.

We've had something like this happening before. Fabrics were about 5g at the time, and they've introduced a change that made failed transmutations return fabrics to you. As a result more people went to try transmuting, buying out all the fabrics and increasing its price by at least 2x.

you can't really predict how it's gonna turn out though, there's too many unknown factors
