Have they successfully married Japanese build quality to Italian design?

Have they successfully married Japanese build quality to Italian design?

>Shares a platform with the new Mazda MX-5
>Assembly in Mazda Hiroshima plant
>Fiat-designed and built turbocharged engine

>japanese build quality

Everything except the engine is built in Japan - and the engine is pretty much the most reliable thing Fiat has made in the last decade. It's just dead reliable - and it makes a factory boosted Miata/MX-5 easy to get for everyone. It also responds very well to upgrades.

Nice meme arrow, friend.

What's a car without a working engine?

Bad - but the 1.4 T jet is completely reliable.

It's the usual Fiat bits around it (that aren't present on the Fiata) that usually fail.

Looks more muscular than the MX-5

That's a good thing you, fuck off back to the 60s

>predicted reliability
>predicted
Also Abarth versions don't get tested with Fiat

Jap build quality in the '60s was good and they picked up modern production methods and quality control quickly.

Italian build quality was utter, utter shit in the 1960s, like French and British build "quality" (not to be confused with paint and interior finish, pretty broken vehicles were still broken).

...

Can't wait to pick one up for dirt cheap in a couple years

If they do a hardtop version like that Miata they showed off a while ago I might actually get one. That thing looked slick as fuck.

That is perhaps the most gorgeous looking modern italian car since the alfa 4c. I just hope it will be what the miata was trying to be.

RF looks slick because its a fastback, and very limited fastbacks of the NA and NB have been made before
don't think fiat will make a fastback version because it isn't true to the original 124

removable hardtop looks pretty damn good on it though

I hope we get to see this car and the mx5 in the Grand Tour

God it's so much better looking than the current-gen Miata.. I love how the styling is going slightly more classic than future-modern like the Miata.

I really hope styling trends to a more simple, minimalistic approach again.

am i the only one who hates the rear? the front is gorgeous, but the rear has no definition in it whatsoever. its like it has the downs. or is from the two decades ago.

Fiata is 5 inches longer than the ND to accommodate NC drivetrain parts behind the 1.4.

please respond

fiat ugly

Don't forget Pajeet's advice, you will guaranteed get 1000hp with just a tune.

Please respond to my thread.

Sure they do. That's like saying SS versions don't count as Chevrolets.

no u

But the NSX already did that

>everything BUT the engine built by the japanese

Why is the fiat so ugly?

Fucking italians. YOu messed this car up. You got raped by the japanese. srsly how could u even. did the japanese hire a italian designer and the italos an japanese. THeres no other explanation for this cancer

dodge/chrysler/ram/fiat tech here

never fiat...not ever

But the electronics are Mazda.

same. It looks outdated.

I wonder if people over 5 feet tall can actually fit in this one.

I cant't get a definitive answer for which one looks better in general.

Personally I like the curves of the miata, even if the rear does not completely match up.

I think the front of the fiat is acceptable but the side profile and rear end are completely devoid of any style/design.

The only Italian part is the motor

>italian made motor

i dislike multiple aspects of both cars and cant decide which is worse

>1.4 T-Jet
It's dead reliable.

>it's reliably dead

>It's dead reliable.
That's the problem, alive reliable is better.

yes mario, yes.

why do people buy red cars god it's the worst fucking color on earth literally shit tier .

It fits the brand.

The 124's hood looks like it's corrugated a la the old 2CV prototypes.

The ND isn't the biggest looker, but it looks gorgeous next to that slab-sided salami.

Sorry, Fiat.

holy shit, the miata looks hideous

>Fiat-designed
garbage

Is there any reason to buy a Miata over this? It objectively looks better and has more power. Make a retractable targa version like the RF and I'd say Mazda is finished.

You have answered your own question
>it objectively looks better

Nah, the Miata is fucking hideous.

Fiat is better in every way.

>stop liking what I don't like

I didnt even say anything about that

if you prefer the Miata you do have some pretty bad taste tho

The only thing bugging me a lot about the fiata are the grills. They look like somebody just badly photoshopped a second one under the first

>I can't properly read a post

>Make a retractable targa version like the RF and I'd say Mazda is finished.
The only Miata that gained some traction where I live is NC because lolroof. So maybe?

>tfw no italapanese kei car

Nice shilling. To bad no one including yourself is going to buy the fiat. Every fiat fan on this board says there gonna wait to buy used because the car is not worth the new price. But the miata IS

> turbos failing left and right
> cracked manifolds
> turbo lubrication failures
> broken valves
> clutchpacks failing out of the blue

I wouldn't call that reliable in any way but some faggots apparently disagree.

pls respond

youre right, but in germany you pay 10k€ more for that 124. But its just 10 hp/40 Nm stronger than Mazdas fastest MX-5.
Not worth 10k€ more.

Yes, it's happened before and it failed spectacularly.

Meet.... the Nissan Cherry Europe GTi

It was a regular Nissan Cherry but sent to Italy to get the awesome Alfa Romeo Alfasud flat four boxer engine.

Why did it suck? Even though the engine was great, the disadvantages of this relationship literally killed off the cars. Since the electricals were Italian, they predictably failed over time. Because it used a Nissan Cherry as a base, the styling was boring and had the same rust problems many other Japanese cars of the era had.

After they all broke down they were stripped for their engines and this weird manufacturing experiment was forgotten.

I don't know if this new Fiat will turn out differently. Honestly, I hate the styling, it looks like a Chinese knock off Miata. If it has an Italian engine you can bet it has Italian electrics to make it work and we know how that can turn to shit.

What is the point of this shitbox
>uglier than a Miata
>slower than a Miata
>shit turbo engine instead of NA reliability
>not even Italian

>>slower than a Miata

Where are you from?

>€40,000 upward for the Abarth
I'll just filter threads containing "Fiat 124" from now on.

t. grandpa spouting ebin maymays

Italian electrics are just fine nowadays. They're as reliable as any other brand.

>being mad europeans got cuckolded by fiat
do you have 90% of vehicles on your filter too? how do you even use this board?

Americans get cars cheaper than the countries where they're built. I could not be pissed off more right now. The Abarth costs less in the US than the baseline 124 in Europe.

The RF is not a fastback.

I work in the motor section of a newspaper. Today I had to edit a story about one of our guys getting flown in to Italy to try it. He said that people over 1,85m has problems fitting.

He also said the Abarth wasn't that much better from the Fiat

Blue best color

One driving review said the seats are even narrower than the miata's. Interior is otherwise exactly the same as the Miata.

The arbarth only has 5hp more so really it's just a trim package that looks race car.

nope, Abarth engine is 20hp more and a better sounding exhaust.

It's also like 100kg heavier than the Miata (base model, dunno about the Abarth)

...

sorry bruv

What's that say in a first world language?

Maximum power (HP - kW / RPM) - 140 - 103 / 5000 RPM

>he fell for the fiat meme

shit looks awkward like when ford tried to reboot the t-bird remember that? tails look weird, the contours of the license plate area is random and soggy looking

all 124's in the states get the abarth engine

That Fiat's face looks like it got slapped a few good times. Not attractive. They both aren't perfect but the Most seems to have a bit more litheness going for it.

Is it the 60s now? No. So, fuck off with your shit.

I have to admit, the Fiat looks better. I'd buy one when they are used and put another engine, maybe a Mazda engine, in it.

It wasn't even good in the 70s. They finally started getting their shit together in the 80s.

of all engines, why would you put a mazda engine in it??

No, they don't.

what makes you say that? bitch nigga

Kill yourself

All U.S 124 spiders get the 160 hp abarth engine. The US abarth model gets 4 more horsepower due to different exhaust.
