Not long, if you don't plan on making time for Destiny, you won't play it much.

Story is rather short and can be done in a day, and grinding to max light can be done in a few weeks, The only grind left after that is getting gear you like and getting stuff with good stats.

Lots of Daily and Weekly things to do but the most fun thing is raiding and that requires you to put a bit of effort into it.

Honestly, i'd wager you are going to go back to FFIVX over staying here. A main MMO is hard to shake off for something else

most groups are cool as long as you can follow instructions, have decent equipment and let them know ahead of time.

As long as they can follow directions and don't die every 5 seconds it shouldn't be a problem. Hell, look up the raid strats before even looking for a group so you're acquainted with it.
