Honda does this too. The weight over the front wheels of 90s hondas is just plastic and crap that makes minimal difference in terms of weight distribution.

The heaviest things that sit further away than the wheels are the rear glass and the radiator.

You have to make compromises like having the rear glass over the back wheels when it's also designed for commuting but over all it follows the fwd principles that the mini made famous.
