What is a good car for under 5k?

what is a good car for under 5k?
I want something fun and reliable and fast
don't really care about year or anything like that. I was thinking mk3 or mr2. 4D would be nice, but only real requirements are fast and reliable.
dont say miata, i said fast

Literally check the sticky. Thats what it exists for.

>fun/fast
>reliable
>cheap
Pick two.

what do you consider cheap for a car from 25 years ago? max I could spend is 10k

literally dont tell me what to do and literally stop misusing the word literally

The fastest car under 10k is on the sticky. Coupe section, middle row, top car.

colbalt?

the sticky is shit

Cobalt SS Turbo is the fastest car under 10k. They react extremely well to mods and can embarrass cars twice their brand new price.

too bad they are pieces of shit that will turn itself and crash

also

>buy a celica 2zz for 2k
>turbo it for another 2k
>faster than a cobalt

Geo Metro 1.0L

The 2ZZ engine does not like boost. The 1ZZ on the other hand loves it.

Honda Civic with LS swap

You can make 330whp in a cobalt SS for 1500$ easy, that's pretty fast for 2800 lbs

miata
not fast but fun, reliable, and cheap

The spyder is all 3 baby. I give 250hp cars a run for their money, and can't get beaten in the turns, even on stock suspension.

5k is probably a little low for a spyder that won't tank out on you though.

>5k
>190k miles
>Cheap
Ya nah, they used to be, now the rice tax is out of control and they're not worth it

not op but the only reason i'm reluctant to get one is basically zero cargo space.

i love that i can take a miata on trips and have plenty of space for camping gear or whatever

A 2zz brings the car to a 4.8-5.2 0-60 though, and it's naturally aspirated, meaning less maintenance.

i'm in norcal and 5k will get you one with 100k or less and in good shape. more than it used to be but not that bad.

name one car that is $3600 brand new

Are you the fag that tried to race my 350z and got left behind by 10 car lengths?

are you the fag that crashed his 350z while chasing an ae86 on a road with actual turns?

>Independent suspension
>Fatter tire
>More grip
>More power
Try again class D car

i never said what car i drive though?

Cargo space is pretty crumby, but compared to other 2 seaters it's not terrible.
Behind the seats is a sizeable space, I'm not sure why you would take a miata camping, but you can certainly fit 2 packed-to-the-brim, medium sized backpacks and a fishing rod.

>this desu
ive seen a few 2000+ in my area go for 5k

>an LS is an SS
Try again faggot. The only thing in common is the engine block and floorpan. Everything else is different.
When Cobalts were new, they were 25k and caable of embarrassing 50k cars. They're serious contenders.

I just figured by your plebeian dialect you drive something hilariously slow and are mortally butt hurt by cars faster than your Mrs miata

>current year
>you said a car twice it's price brand new
>this isn't 2005 anymore
>a car twice the price of a car from 2005 in 2005 isn't brand new

Never tried dragging a 350z, would be interesting. I've got a a lightweight cat, exhaust and battery, make around 150hp, and the car is now about 940kg or a little less

> I'm not sure why you would take a miata camping
because I don't need any more space and it's fun to drive?

Better off car pooling with someone that's got a hilux or a jeep m8, camping is fun with buddies

sure, but sometimes i go by myself

>I want something fun and reliable and fast
pick 2.

I know.

It's simple, figure it the hp to weight, and in what life time is an Mrs making 150hp lol, maybe 130

The Cobalt SS Turbo came out in 2008. This is what happens when morons who think they know cars try to shit-talk the Cobalt.

hue
I kinda wish I could do that, but I'd probably get bitten by snakes and eaten by gigantic ants and die

Makes 138 with a dildo stuffed up it's ass bro, take out the cucked pre-cats and extra cat, swap em for a sports cat and chuck on an exhaust and you're rocketing with the high flow. It's like a different car.

You're probably lucky to make 5hp on that engine bro, maybe 12hp with a tune

You wouldn't really know, I drive the thing.
Besides, unless you've got a nismo your Z is pigfat and underpowered, it would be close as fuck.

>Cobalt LS
How fucking retarded are you? A Cobalt SS Turbo can't be found for less than 8k.

SS Turbos come with a 2.0L turbo making 260HP. The engine features direct fuel injection and VVT, a first for GM gasoline engines.
The suspension was Nurburgring tuned. For a time, the Cobalt SS Turbo was the fastest production FWD car to go around before being beaten by a Renault. BTW, Every FWD car to beat that record since has never been sold in America.
It was the cheapest car you could get with an honest to god launch control system. And it didn't void the warranty like it would on a Nissan GTR of the same time. It also came with other cool features like no-lift-shift allowing you to keep your foot planted on the gas while changing gears. This was done to eliminate turbo lag between gear shifts and make sure you were always in boost while accelerating.

And the engine was severely undertuned as it was. GM themselves offered a stage 1 tune that would take power to 290 HP and 330 lbs-ft. Aftermarket tuners found the internals were capable of more and with not much more than $1600, you can bump power to 330 HP without touching the internals or the head. Combined with the Cobalt's light weight, the car then becomes a terror on a track, eating sports cars for lunch... both in a straight line and around corners.

Miatafags unironically ruined another thread. You do realize we don't actually like that car, right? You fell for a meme without even understanding it.

Like others have said a Turbo Cobalt SS is a little out of your price range but the supercharged models are just as reliable and still damn quick. You can also get a an Ion Redline with the same drivetrain which has 4drs. On mine I've swapped in the Turbo Cobalt SS suspension and am making around 240hp with bolt ons, tune, and smaller supercharger pulley.

>we

I'm a Eurofag, always have been, but Miatas aren't bad at all. They're basically more reliable MGs.

>we
Fuck off.
>inb4 you claim to be an oldfag and/or call me a newfag

mad miatafags
dont believe everything you read on the internet
they are neither reliable, nor fast, nor cheap, and they are objectively ugly

Ladies, please, let's keep talking about spyders

Tell me what car to buy
>tell me what to do.

Check the fucking sRicky you lazy faggot
>don't tell me why to do

Just kill yourself bro

What world do you live in, lol. Horsepower to weight isn't the be all and end all of racing.
Have you never seen the mustang gt vs anything threads?
Weight distribution makes a big difference between the two cars, and that's not just cornering.
In a 0 to speed limit sprint a FF and MR has an advantage to FR, and 50/50 AWD has an advantage to MR and FF. Traction and launch is better due to a more advantageous weight distribution.
