Here's a pastebin with games you can play while waiting for SC to be finished or for E:D to be fun:

I think I've figured out why they're called "Clippers"

The last two times I've gone against one the only damage I took was from collisions. They just run right the fuck into you. The first one has fixed guns that literally couldn't hit me, the second one would fire for some reason.

Better

Thanks OP.

are sothis runs ded

I'm at Newholm and I'm not getting anything

is it ceos or sothis?

Would not* fire for some reason.

this is thread №22

>webm as OP image

I approve.

Whichever has the black market. But one of them is for sure up.

There are a lot of high profile systems that are down right now, its a real shame

...

It's just total RNG whether or not you get any missions. So switch from open to solo and restart the game a couple dozen times and you might get enough. I've got a 20.3 million run going on right now.

>The term "clipper" most likely derives from the verb "clip", which in former times meant, among other things, to run or fly swiftly. Dryden, the English poet, used the word "clip" to describe the swift flight of a falcon in the 17th century when he said "And, with her eagerness the quarry missed, Straight flies at check, and clips it down the wind." The ships appeared to clip along the ocean water. The term "clip" became synonymous with "speed" and was also applied to fast horses and sailing ships. "To clip it," and "going at a good clip," are familiar expressions to this day.
>While the first application of the term "clipper" in a nautical sense is by no means certain, it seems to have had an American origin when applied to the Baltimore clippers of the late 18th century. When these vessels of a new model were built, which were intended to "clip" over the waves rather than plough through them, the improved type of craft became known as "clippers" because of their speed.
Neat.

I love when someone bumps a thread complaining about things being broken like 1 or 2 years ago and everyone replied that CIG would fix it soon and to stop complaining lmao

>Chaff is the most common thing for NPCs and players to keep aboard their ships
>FDev designs a ship that has to rely entirely on gimbals just to hit
>NPCs and players spam chaff and make it useless

Don't know who the fuck thought this was a good idea. But they're a retarded asshole.

How much spess bucks do I need as a total newbie to outfit a good ED ship for long range exploration?

How long will I have to grind to get that amount?

Rough estimates welcome.

Link?

/scedg/e when

Anyone have a dream space game?

ED's station interiors are really well done. In fact they're so much more interesting the entire game should be about them. Have a GTA game where you fly your hovercar around a 360-degree Fifth Element city, in a Bernal sphere, doing deliveries and odd jobs and Hardwar-esque feuding with other groups.

My dream space game is Elite Dangerous after a lot of updates and content patches

In all honesty it's pretty much what Chris Roberts is promising with Star Citizen, which is why I don't feel like I can really believe it will happen. The thought of visiting all those beautiful varied spaceports on different worlds in first person, and chilling out on my spess ship, it's just amazing. All I've ever wanted.

ED created as per the Design Discussion Archive is pretty much it.

20 mil. Asp explorer is the default long range. Long range exploration sucks and is one of the worst aspects of this game

Some combination of ED/SC with shit loads of massive stations, actual cities to explore, some fantastical elements and inspirations from muh space animu

>flying my dadbra
>interdicted by a clipper
>it's running large PAs on the wings
>sit perfectly still pointing directly at it
>it also comes to a stop and after a brief pause says it'll boil me up
>flip my space dorito sideways
>both PAs whiff at point blank range
>it just keeps on firing and missing like that

And that's also how I discovered that NPCs have infinite ammo.

Mass Effect with advanced spaceships not the laughable kiddie space map we had.

What EVE online was supposed to be with Walking in Stations + Dust 514 integrated

What Star Citizen promises to be when finished

What is does Floating Execution Enabled mean? Is it just logging the clients more?

>Floating Execution Enabled

What Chris Roberts is promising, plus a massive 300+hr story within the PU and a romanceable male and female from each race, fully VA'd with in depth subsumption AI for the romancing, with all the stages up to and including being "mated" to them, and the daily life that comes with marriage.

Yeah yeah, I'm a dirty xeno fucker, oh well.

A floating point exception is something that's triggered by doing an invalid operation with a floating point number. You can ignore it and try to keep running, catch the exception and try to fix it before handing the value over to whatever was going to use it, or you can just let the app crash.

So instead of ignoring it and soldiering on like it normally does with potentially negative performance/stability consequences, the client will just crash on the spot and presumably upload a crash dump to the devs so they can figure out why the code is trying to do invalid bullshit.

>find one with a 92k bounty, occupied by an eagle
>decide to go after it in my viper4
>RIP eagle
>initial thought is "oh fuck those were PAs" as its shot barely misses
>that was a lucky dodge though!
>clong

>after three rounds of this I realize the NPC doesn't account for mounting position whatsoever and is just centering me

>touch noses to it and rotate the rest of the fight

Why wouldn't they have given the NPCs the basic ability to know what gun they have and how it performs?

So I'm about to pull the trigger on the 60 dollar ship+squadron 42 pack to get the taste of deus ex mankind divided out of my mouth but before I do I have a few questions

>Are you able to buy more ships with ingame currency?

>Is the game an open world MMO? Can I go find other people out in space at random? If not, how does player interaction work

>Does it have player owned stations like EvE?

>Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha?

...

>get interdicted by master clipper
>it does nothing but float around me, aiming at me and not firing
>wat
>after a couple minutes of this, check loadout
>mines
>wat

what's wrong with the new DX?

optimization and microtransactions, from what ive heard

there are no player owned stations like eve, and they dont really plan on adding anything like that, they want there to be these derelict stations in space that people fight over like king of the hill, but considering players will be fragmented into 50 player instances, shit just isnt going to work

Rockstar makes a grand theft auto game heavily influenced by cowboy bebop

oh, and yes to all of those. player stations is a maybe. aurora has missiles, but mustang can aim better.

You will be able to build stuff on planets tho

You can buy more in game ships through a currency called rec which you earn through the Arena Commander and Racing modes, Racing earns the most rec at the moment. You have to use the websites to buy ships/weapons with Rec.

The game right now has a mini open world it's a fraction of the size that will be in 3.0, 2.5 the upcomming patch will add a new station.

No player owend stations right now this may be a thing in the future.

Aurora

Also use this referral code to earn you and me some free shit

STAR-CMBR-YX46

no, you will not be able to build things on planets

...

what
I too wish to be a heavy armor spacemanga

65 dollar pricetag because i live in WA and since valve is here too, it counts as a local sale and sales tax applies. It's like that with everything I buy on steam.

>derelict stations
What would be the motivation of fighting over them if you can't own them? Or can you own them?

I'll go with the Aurora, it seems like it's more of a jack of all trades.

That sounds pretty good.
Is squadron 42 worth the extra 15 bucks in my ship purchase?

So let me get this straight, they charge you for the first ship you own + access to the game, but you can buy the other ships with ingame money?

Squadron 42 will have over 20 hours of gameplay so it will be easily worth the $15

I already registered, or I would have used your referral code. Any way I can add it post registration?

>Is squadron 42 worth the extra 15 bucks in my ship purchase?
it'll be at least as much game as DX

>So let me get this straight, they charge you for the first ship you own + access to the game, but you can buy the other ships with ingame money?
yes

you can own them, but people can just take them away from you if you leave them there, and yes you can buy any ship in the game except for a few rare ones, most of the people that bought these ships with money though will have lifetime warranties on them, meaning they'll always get a new hull back if someone splats them. while you'll have to be spending a large amount of money on insurance regularly

>a large amount
no

insurance will be negligible by intent

astral projection inside your ship can go very wrong when your soul wanders too far in space

Cool. I'm about to buy. Do game modules cost extra money to access?

I've been confused by the insurance stuff.

Do you actually need insurance in the game right now? Is that something you can buy with in game money some place?

no. SC is all content forever included under the entry price, minus maybe some future mission packs and sq42 sequels.

insurance will be a full release concern, currently you have unlimited free ship spawns

I trust Chris Roberts' words more than yours

Nope. Unless you want to register with a different email and username you can't use his code.

thanks for the answers everyone, I just bought it.

>ved
>not goon and kong
really though flores nobody's gonna revive that shit. despite being 16, you are old and forgotten

Nah, the modules are just different segments of the full Star Citizen we are previewing/help test. You won't get Squadron 42, the single player campaign though, that is sold separately.

So what happened to The Mandate?

Can you buy whole packages in the grey market?

Just coming through to say still best ship.

They actually gave an update like a month a go check their kickstarter page

>The team and the project went through a rough patch last year. We iterated and changed and fell short while building the grand vision of the game we had, we struggled to communicate our intentions within the team, we faced difficulties with our heads down.

>>>>VISION

Check their kickstarter for more info

yes

Am I fucked because I didn't grind rep via the old donation missions before they got patched? Did everyone get their Corvettes and Cutters before the patch hit?

I'm doing the Wu Ganja/HIP 10716 runs and I get like 13% per run and it's fucking mind-numbing.

How is hte Aquila different than the Connie

Are you new, friendo?

There are variants!

Oh shit. Reads like the project is in the crapper.

Sexier

At least the Mandate devs are being honest and holding themselves accountable and not hiding it.

Bigger front window, exploration focused internals and externals, Ursa rover, and most importantly, that sick ass rusted/beat up hull texture.

>charged with criminal trespass in 22 systems
>42 classified scan databanks
>60 unusual encrypted files
>0 cracked industrial firmware
>0 security firmware patches

Grinding mats for dirty drive turning and doubleshot frags is suffering.

>using frags

Are you a masochist?

I thought they dropped the unique canopy
I remember being upset about it

You now remember when the Constellation was added to hangar mode, and it was the most fucking impressive thing, seeing a ship that big in game.

>that piss fog

ohh man i had forgotten about that

Nope, this never happened. One dev once said something that a bunch of shitposters misunderstood.

The new way they made the current Constellation was specifically to make variants like the canopy easier to implement.

Isn't it in the game?

Er they held radio silence for almost a year before finally coming out and saying they were fucked

Not exactly a paragon of honest development.

I'm running a resist-armored FAS so my ship is already lodged halfway through my opponent's hull for most of the fight anyway.

Frags do unspeakable things when you can reliably hit with the ENTIRE burst.

I had a IMMERSION moment when I first saw this in game.

The thing about being FUCKED is that you don't necessarily know you are fucked tell you are in over your head and it sounds like this is what happened with the Mandate. Also looks like they cut some things but I"m not sure what.

neat. the bounty hunter CG just ended ~15minutes ago

They had to move to Slovakia I think. In over their heads is putting it mildly.

Braben, Look at me.

I am the Vision now.

Fuuuuuck I'm so looking forward to seeing one of these.

Holding off on going through the whole ridiculous upload process until 2.5

Any idea when the Redeemer will drop? Looks fuckin sick.

>Best ship
Someone hasnt flown a connie in 2.5 yet

hopefully never.

that glass effect tho. I miss that, even if it didn't make any sense for future spessglass

I went through the torture of 2.4.1 just to see one in person and I have yet to see one spawned

there's just no reason to take them out beyond novelty at the moment, unless it's all you won

Why?

Probably one of the last ships they'll finish.

Like you could literally start a betting pool on whether the Redeemer, the Cutlass rework, or the Friendly Merchantman will be the last thing they work on.

because a shit

>Star Trap
I actually found that on VHS in my Dad's porn collection.

The ginger is a shapshifter and grows a penis to fuck the brunette

Tell your dad he has great taste

it actually flies way better than you'd expect, and is nearly as fast as the connie. Although if you think the freelancer's view is bad, try that view on a ship the size of a building.

Well done, my son.

CIG doesn't care about the Merchantman? It's one of the most interesting ships in the game

CIG cares about the Merchantman it's just not a priority since trading isn't in. Also the large ship pipeline isn't finished yet.
