Only wankers do it

Why do most cars have exhaust tips faced down?

Because police and neighbors. Cutouts > open pipes.

Because I don't have a welder and I don't know a shop that will do it.

It would sound awful, bike or car.

Still has the cats, but other than that it is

youtu.be/IfzghUDFqXw

Sounds like flapping ass lips, you live in a terrible state. 0/10

Did so to my first car.

Sounded like WWII bomber at highway speeds.

Because I'm not a boiracer faggot try hard mainly

I have no cats with a muffler. Loud is good but not when it sounds like shit. If I had an h-pipe I would straight pipe the exhaust but I don't because f-body camaros have shitty clearance. you had one job government motors

Because some engines require back pressure to run correctly.

Because my engine sounds like shit in mufflers, but I am catless tho

Because it adds no power and just makes your car loud

i dont like loud exhaust sound. id rather have more mechanical sound and such.

so water can't pool inside

>back pressure
Here comes the memes fellas

One of the first things I did

if that's you, you look like an absolute douchebag..but the straightpiping of your car should've been enough of a clue

it sounds like a tractor.

Jesus christ. The face and license plate of pure autism

u mad bro?

If your cars considered a classic car and is 25 years old could you straight pipe it?

About not looking like a 40 year old pedo that lives in the projects? Not at all.

Yeah I'm with this guy. Cutouts give you best of both worlds. And I have no problem being that guy, but really only sounds good on v8s

Pedo? what makes you say that
And since when do projects have garages?
Projecting much?

You were on rcr right?

Because I don't have literal autism and I can understand that, while it sounds cool to my ears, the loudness of a straight piped engine is intrusive and unwelcome for 99 percent of the people around me.

...

Plenty of them

This. engine sound > exhaust sound

Because it sounds like shit and I'm not a jackass

>those plates

Because I drive a 1.3l ecoflex opel astra, that would sound like shit.

How about driving hoodless with mechanical rockers, and a straight pipe?

clickity clack up front, burp bur burrr in the back

Not legal over here

because making your car sound like some old faggot's harley is gay as fuck

Because I drive a shitty corolla, nothing will make that thing sound good.

Sure, if you dd a 2 stroke. Retard.

Kiriller kar dude.

Because when I want to hear dem r6 cylindres I just let them scream at 5000 rpm. And it sounds great.
Would be annoying if they were loud while cruising.

my moped has straight cut gears. stock exhaust makes it sound very electric like.

>tfw don't care about sound but still have to straight pipe my car

id rather have a very low deep sounding exhaust that isnt too loud.

And I'm sure you'd love a smooth bald black man to caress you down.

...

>tfw straight pipe Honda
>prople probably think I'm a ricer

I'll straight pipe Op's mum

Because you are a ricer.

How

You drive a straight piped honda, unless it's an s2k you're a ricer

That's not fair

Yes, because it'll be tolerable in a weekend car.

Because I prefer not to give myself a headache every time I drive more than 20 miles, I also prefer not to be a giant pain in the ass to everyone around me wherever I go, and finally because I prefer not giving any random cop a reason to pull me over and buttfuck me.

>Mechanical rockers
You mean solid lifters?

Also, you forgot the supercharger on a Gilmer belt, straight cut transmission gears, and zoomies.

>has less than 450whp
>straight pipes

kill yourself. I dont want to hear you slow shitbox sounded like a jet engine

Where are your driveahafts OP?

>the license plates are correct

>You mean solid lifters?
Its hydraulic vs mechanical, that's the namature on these cars

I have to do it, fuck off.

Because I was busy straight piping your mom

Mechanical ones are also known as solid lifters. That's a matter of nomenclature indeed.

However, confusing rockers and lifters is completely wrong.

Pass through mufflers with long tube headers give your car a rich tone. That's why you don't straight pipe

The mechanical rockers are the kind that make ticking noises, and need need to manually adjusted for lift.

When it comes to these cars, what folks refer to mechanical rockers are pic related, top one is hydraulic, bottom is mechanical.

I actually DD a 2 stroke

No, it's mechanical or solid lifters that clatter against the rocker arms. You do adjust this by setting the valve lash on the rockers, but it's caused by the lifters. Hydraulic lifters remove this ticking.

righto.

I'm trying to find a replacement for my whole exhaust system on my citroen BX,
It's compromised of 3 parts:
-The tubing from the manifold to a horizontal silencer
-The horizontal silencer
-The end muffler

In the pic I've rounded down my choices for the part that goes from the manifold to the first silencer, is the thicker part of tubing I marked in red an expansions chamber? Why is it not present in the walker tubing?
What brand do citroëns OEM use?
What part will affect performance/sound?
Is this better/worse than straight tube?
Also I don't give a fuck about loud noise or emissions.

Can't do shit to my own car without an expensive engineer checking it.

>straightpipe car
>lose heater
>don't drive it on the winter anyway

Wut?

air cooling brah

I did it, and I suffer hearing damage.

Because I'm not a child so I realize that loud != good

Bwahahaha that sounds horrible

>implying i haven't already

Similar but I kept the muffler ) since it's very loud (ears will be ringing afterwards without the muffler

why do people feel the need to mod their car so it wakes up the entire neighborhood when they accelerate to 15mph

...

I'n not a bogan with a flat brim hat and tribal tattoos.

Because i haven't registered my car yet.

My truck is straightpiped though.

youtube.com/watch?v=i-PFSNRnjPw

Because my 4.6 vate sounds good with no cats and glass packs on an h pipe. The formula just has a glass pack and no cats, since LolGM made the clearance shit on 4th Gen for bodies.

Lol noice.

not a budget track car and I live in a quiet neighborhood

>straight pipe car
>weld a suppressed from a gun on the end of it
boom
you fucking retard

user that pipe isn't straight

You're not straight.

I'm straight like spaghetti, lad.

>neighborhood

found your problem

how is life as a cancer cell

holy shit it is. watch the video and look at the exhaust i thought he didn't lurk anymore

Illegal here my dude

Because it sounds like shit on road cars. No exceptions.

If I had any sensibility left from my childhood I would cut a hole in hood, and run the exhaust straight up. Being an adult is like eating bran flakes forever.

...

It is, ricer's are the sort of people who think a honda is anything more than a boring car for non-car people, and legitimate faggots.

That's not true. You're just shitposting

Only ones specifically designed to utilize the back pressure to its advantage. Bespoke exhausts specifically built for a certain engine and chassis are a good example. A Honda Accord wouldn't care.

Back pressure is used by manufacturers to lower the revs required for peak torque. Good for day to day bumbling around in traffic. However having a massive open exhaust is worse than an appropriately sized exhaust that promotes scavenging. Pipemax is a useful tool for correct calculations on exhaust sizes, and lengths.

>loud

but why

I did, briefly. The intent was just to be obnoxious because the car lends itself really well to that sort of thing but it turns out that straight-piped rotaries only hurt the driver's ears.

Muffler went back on just as soon as I had time.
