About time. Halo 4 has good maps, it's just the Halo 4 game types were cancerous.

The Haven remake looks great

The far left wing of the transformative party that likes Halo 4 has always hated on Haven because it was popular.

Watch them now change their tune because they need to applaud everything 5 does.

This might be the first non-remixed DLC map.
I'm sure there's some re-used assets from the Battle of Saunion, but it doesn't look like they ripped anything from an already existing map.

Halo 4 maps make the most sense as remake candidates because they were all designed with Sprint in mind, so they would naturally transfer over to 5 much easier and without serious alteration.

I will admit that I appreciate 343's attempts at large setpieces and battlefields with multiple avenues of attack. Especially prevalent in the Sanghelios levels.

I don't think they were FULLY utilized to their advantage, though. Run-and-gun worked about as well as it always has for me.

I'm gonna make a graph with the average of everyone's rating for each campaign mission in the series.
Rank each campaign level in a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "Played once, don't wanna touch it again" and 10 being "Love it, could play a dozen times and never get bored". Objectively speaking none of the games is 100% flawless or shitty, so posts with only "10s" or "1s" rankings will be ignored.

Seperate Gravemind/High Charity and Uprising/TGJ

I appreciate the joining. I agree it should be done, but the last 4 should be seperate since they're sequence broken by other levels

I feel that elites should've been the enemies for the first couple of missions in ODST and then you see brutes drop in and kill them once the great schism happens

I think the levels should be combined. I have seen so many places where people rank them while combined. He made a nice compromise by not combining the last 4

Haven was probably my favourite map in 4. Adrift and Longbow were ok.

It's a solid level. It serves as a good tutorial and introduces the player to the base mechanics in a way that doesn't feel too forced.

For me, this is the most overrated level in the franchise. I see why it's so revered for what it meant, but I don't think it has aged as well as most of the other levels in CE.

Lone Wolf says hello

Lone Wolf is more of a bonus level. It's a nice merging of narrative and gameplay, but it can't match the forever of a real final level.

Outside of Muh story lone wolf isn't that impressive

disregarding the campaigns themselves, do you prefer The Maw or Halo for your final warthog run sequence

I prefer Halo. The Maw was, understandably, a copy-paste fest, and having to stop and wait for Foehammer kills the pace a bit.
The way the music changes in Halo is also good.

I didn't like Halo 3 as a whole, though.

I completely disregarded Foehammer my first few times because by the time I realized Cortana said to stop, she already started the rest of her dialogue and the new waypoint

I don't get it either. It was just the first level with some flood added and having to put four grenades into tubes that sometimes don't register the grenades.

Well if you don't stop, you're not playing it "right."

I want to buy Gold but don't want to shell out 60$ Cad, is this a good deal or will it go lower within the next few weeks? Occasionally it goes to 27 right?

CE is my least favorite campaign, the scores here are pretty generous.

Halo, I love the jump at the end into the back of the Forward Unto Dawn and then the quick cut to the cinematic with the music carrying over into it.

Alright, Halo 2's turn. I'm gonna put some time between each game's post but this doesn't mean you can't rank previous games, it's just to give some time to think between each post.
I decided to put together the levels in Halo 2 that were clearly cut in the middle.

Halo. The fact we'd already had a warthog run doesn't really affect me as they're both fantastic. Halo always has fantastic vehicle orientated missions.

I find Halo to have the better warthog run of the 2 as, in my opinion, the build up and tension is just greater. The platforms falling, cortana reading out how close the charging was, the fact you have to make the jump at the end and you had a lot more movement in the run whereas the maws was clunky at times

Who says flood levels can't be great? Well, maybe a lot of people, but the pacing of this level is perfect. You really feel like you're trudging your way to the library. We also need the sentinel variants to return.

One of the longer Halo 2 levels, this level really pushes you to your limit. The civil war aspect is very engaging as well and offers shit tons of replayability.

Halo 2 ends a bit lackluster. Clearly a rushed final product, but despite this, TGJ still holds up.

Halo 2 is a game that rests largely on its challenge and difficulty. It's punishing but not cheaply so. When you beat it on legendary/LASO, you really feel accomplished, as opposed to later entries that are easier on legendary than Halo 2 is on heroic.
