JOP chiming in here. I thought the game was surprisingly well written because it's not the kind of story where you can just callously write off the tear-jerking segments as sentimental schlock. All the characters are too real to not sympathize with them. It's kind of like Clannad because it will chew up your heart and spit it out, but the characters and the situations they're put into feel a lot more realistic than Clannad's dragonballs. It's hard to describe why that makes a game appealing, to be honest. If you don't like nakige, then you won't like WA2 because the one thing that it does better than other VNs is to make you feel a lot of emotions, many of which are admittedly uncomfortable. It's like asking why people watch scary movies, I guess. People don't like to be scared in real life, but they like to have their emotions stimulated in the context of a game or movie where they feel they have control.
