>he bought the terrapin

u fucking what

>E:Ds goal is to create a huge MMO
>MMO

er? No?
The game is not an MMO, Fdevs goal is not to make an MMO.

nth for racing.

Nope mine was left outside GrimHex.

I gotta admit I love my Reliant, it doesn't seem to turn as bad as people were saying it did in the PTU. No idea if it is viable for...anything though.

I told that faggot to change it but he went rip in Kill before he fixed it. We can make a new one this thread

Best ship.

>you will never go on wacky adventures in your brown, beat up Carrick that has a red P52 and a blue ARGO in its hangar

This. People in /scg/ complain that other cargo ships can't compete with the Hulls since they can carry greater loads at a time but fail to realize that a comparison of numbers is ignores other factors that affect real profit and success. Hull ships look very attractive until you realize they can't protect anything for shit and that even the virtual poorfag with the hull A will need to shell out money for an escort. They're great options in safe space and if you're doing very well the escorts aren't a problem but the fact that you need a specific environment to make them function properly is very limiting, especially when coupled with the fixed and unmalleable role of a freighter the series has compared to the Freelancer.

First for dragonfly biker gangs.

>implying you're going to be able to protect yourself in a freelancer anyways

>all this theory crafting

We have no idea how much anything you are saying is the case. Looking at the way they have been building out the Stanton system, people may well be able to make whole careers trading WITHIN ONE SYSTEM, and there is no reason that can't be a central heavily policed one like Stanton, Magnus, Terra, etc.

Or maybe you are right, and you won't be able to earn the big space bucks without traveling through dangerous areas. But we don't know either way, so it isn't anything to take a stand on either way.

I'm fairly certain there's going to plenty of trade runs that involve no combat whatsoever. To design it otherwise would be utterly stupid from a gameplay standpoint let alone realism.

You could probably put an M50 in there for the full Swordfish experience.

>What ships do you like?
Mostly things that don't just look like planes.
I really like the Reliant, mode shift ships are really, really cool to me, and I like that it's a vertical design over the predominately horizontal ones. The Khartu-Al as well, but it doesn't have any cargo room.

The Cutlass looks really cool too, it strikes me as a car design, with the front fin/wing things being the front wheels and the engines in the back being rear wheels.

The Freelancer is nice, but I just feel like it's too big for me.
I'd like a Pick-up, not a Semi. And I really feel like the Reliant fits that role perfectly, but I don't have it and I don't feel like I can't really make my own opinion on how it flies, it's armament, and so on without being able to fiddle with those things.

>janky movement

Try out the hangar and see if you can actually look around. Then go into live and see if you can or can't. This is bugging me.

thread theme desu

youtube.com/watch?v=vp8ZBT-VHrA

spacial escape tactics

Fix the fucking font, dickwad

>freelancer too big

I feel like it looks a bit cramped. I want a ship I can live in.

Right, the point is, are those going to be viable or just boring ED style drudgery, with way better money on more dangerous routes?

If they actually do keep with the current star system scale they are building 3.0 with, the universe is going to be way bigger than anyone anticipated. That "you could spend dozens of hours in one system" promise actually seems accurate. And many of the safest systems are right next to each-other, with stable, large jump points connecting them

good old forum dads

Looking is much better in general, yeah, it's the way the characters more that is janky, in the hangar or the babby PU

>poorfags buying only crew account
>begging in this general to be niggers on your ship

More like poorfag begging for free codes. And it'll likely work on the reddit rubes.

>"Dad can we play the game too?"
>"Little faggots, this is a mans game, fuck off! Video games is serious business."

are fucking planetary base assualts working correctly atm? I've scanned all the points in 5 different ones and gotten nothing back (except the intel package) i need modified emdedded firmware for grade 5 multicannons

Seems like we have pretty similar taste in ships desu senpai.

People like to exaggerate how bad any ship is. I'd let you fly around in my Reliant, but I have no idea how matchmaking works. Honestly if you just ask nicely at Port Olisar someone will let you.

Armament wise it is very comparable to the other starter ships, it's weakness is how it falls to pieces at the moment, though hopefully they will fix that. Who knows.

Ftfy

What I've said is the ideal balance that the devs have repeatedly said they want. If, in practice, protection isn't that important, game balance is ruined. Ships like the 'Lancer (especially the MAX) become redundant and pure dogfighters will be limited in job opportunity.

>bought asp
>its just spess trukk with more dakka

wtf i hate asp now, if i go back to courier i wont lose any money right?

He could just let them play on his account. Hell with the new ship transfers they wouldn't even have to use his ship.

Trade runs typically work in that the shorter and safer the route, the less money you'll get. So it may take a lot of runs, or a lot of cargo, to make things break even.

Now I don't know if stuff like fuel costs are going to be in the game, or how much they are, but it might end up being that ships like the Hull series, generally being so large, use up so much fuel that in system runs simply are not cost effective. the other reason I'm not super attracted to the Hull series (aside form it's sleek sexy look when not carrying any cargo, can we please get the Hull cockpit on the Freelancer?) is that it looks like it has little in the way of defensive ability for how much potential money it can have.

The website even mentions this with the Reliant promo page
>While the Hull line is solely dedicated to moving cargo from point to point with little interference, the nimble and better-armed Reliant is ideal for journeys that might involve an engagement or two

you'll lose 10% of the asps price unless they changed it recently

10% off each ship sale. No loss on mods. So always sell those mods first.

who /terrapin/ here? looks nice

I'd get one if it were cheaper
Maybe I'll buy it with ingame currency one day

In other news
>These are intended design changes but it just so happens that 2.5.0 catches us right in the middle of the older HUD/Combat Visor system and the completion of the redesigns in our Multi Function Displays.

Some of the MFDs are blocked by the helmet, some are too small to ready, some are just awkward to read in combat. We're actively working on our UI experience now, and we'll have much more for you in 2.6.0.

So, if I upgrade to a new ship, will things like the insurance and such from the old package I got transfer with it?

I understand right now you have infinite spawns of the ship you got, I'm just curious.

They've made vague statements towards more risky runs being worth more yeah, but how much that is the case, and how risk/reward will actually be calculated by real players in whatever meta develops in the actual game, is all ???.

Yeah, like you say there are even more variables in there like fuel, and possibly the market being dynamic, so runs changing all the time. You can just as easily say that, with the massive amount of money you need to spend on the larger Hulls, and the amount of cargo they shift, the game will HAVE to make them hella viable. Or maybe they will fuck that up and they won't be seen as useful. CIG could end up highly overvaluing expensive goods, making the most profitable runs always being in Freelancers or Constellations.

There are just so many variables is all I'm saying, so adopting a know-it-all attitude right now is silly. Even with the trading meta you can extrapolate from everything CIG has said there are loads of what ifs, and that is giving the BIG what if that things will work exactly how they envision.

only thing that changes is the ship.

Yeah, if you use a CCU, you get the insurance and the package FROM the ship you are upgrading.

okay, I thought so. thanks.

>fill ship with spees niggers
>directly into sun
>strand at station
>???
>profit, except jk there's no profit in E:D, only more grind

I hate that they're tricking people into honestly believing that you can be some kind of tanky god in this - like you can legitimately go into pirate or vanduul space and ward off enemies by not dying.

Yeah, is it just me or is the Terrapin actually bad at absolutely everything? I mean it looks cool, but I can't work out who the fuck this ship is for.

It's got one fucking turret. Who's retarded enough to think this flying brick is going to fight anyone.

It's probably been concepted by the Fat One instead of the much more competent folks over at Foundry 42.

I think it's also shit, based on description. 0 cargo immediately rules it out for me. I also think the principle of heavy armor reliance is stupid. You should never bet on your armor to keep you alive rather than fighting back.

Trade as a player controlled thing will always be tricky. In the age of sail, typically trading ships were very heavily armed themselves, and had escorts. You'd really only find more firepower (legally) in a navy ship and fleet. Treasure ships were rather well protected. Some of the most famous pirate ships were originally treasure ships upon which the pirates added even more canon.

Problem is making the trade ships too safe means that people won't bother to attack them, or would be forced to attack in such large numbers that there's little to no profit.

But the idea is that the Hull series is a purely focused cargo carrier, so the idea of it losing "points" in other catagories; either it will be really slow (or expensive to fly) or it will have less in the way of weaponry (which is what it looks like right now, but that can, of course, change) or a combination of both, seems like a natural presumption.

holy fuck this is the worst. i have now done 8 of these dumb base assaults in a row and gotten absolutely nothing

The whole thing just sounds like 'NPC ship' to me.

Which isn't a bad thing, just not something I'd want to fly around in or pay money for.

does look cute though

It has been remarked that it's fundamentally flawed for exploration, search and rescue, and combat, yes.

I doubt you'll see many Hull-C or bigger outside of the safest system. I bet most of them will be transporting low profit goods between Earth and Terra.

I'd imagine you'd only see the larger Hulls out of "safe zones" as part of a fleet from an organization, or more likely a couple, with profits to be shared by all. That probably won't be a common thing, I agree.

>Hull C + going into unsafe space for common missions
>ever

hell the fuck no. I doubt there's even going to be enough material to ship there.

But. If a Hull C full of very, very valuable goods is heavily escorted into somewhere like Nul, Hades, or otherwise, i'd suspect the profit to make orgs moist. I'd love that kind of gameplay. Either way, I think the Hull E and D are too large for effective player use. Multiple Hull Cs would be seemingly better than the others. You're fucking trapped with the others.

I think quality of life goods will have a very high demand in low sec since, you know, their quality of life is shite and they can't get them elsewhere.

I want to deliver shit and explore some shitty fallout postapocalyptic world

>apparently flight stick aiming is broken
>I've been damn accurate with my shots

I hope it's fixed so I can become a sniper or something.

You also forgot jump point restructions

There are places a freelancer can go that a hull cannot

Ew, its not aegis style.

It just needs a bubble cockpit and it would fit their pre-edgelord style

>Aegis style

What is Aegis style? You have the space shuttle Avenger. Then you have the Idris, the Retaliator, and the Surveyor. Aside from the surveyor which I don't know what it looks like, none of these ships really share any sort of similar style that I can see.

>TFW you get a Terrapin for 145 dollars instead of 195 dollars.

CIG just made a mistake when they returned my explorer package.

They gave me the money back but didnt take the package off of my account. So I melted it down. Had around 350 dollars in my store credit after that. What should I buy?

Space planes

>What is Aegis style
Space planes an helis.

Buy everyone Argos.

For 350? Endeavor or Carrack (or Orion). Any other ship besides those is a stupid choice at that price.

But then im stuck with an Argos as a main ship... I like the idea though.

You could always upgrade it if you keep some spare.

Why is the 325a even a ship, I feel so agile but powerless

Star systems: Tiber, Virgil, and Orion will excite you. Sadly we must wait for them to be made first, but looking at their lore never hurts I guess.

>IM GONA CUM ON ALL OF YOUR SHIPS
why are you giving them what they want?

what they really deserve is hot death

The 325a can pack some serious punch. You just need to rearm it to solve its crippling overheating issue.

Got a link?

Suggestions for a loadout?

Any recommendations? Just made some cash and I fucking hate how quickly it overheats

You only get modified embedded firmware from high and medium security bases with a size of +++ or ++.

Look for a 2.5 spreadsheet of weapon stats and work it out yourself. I don't have one that updated. Try to monoboat anyway so all three weapons converge, or at least have the nose weapon be a tier up from the wings. Possibly with tarantulas still?

It took me ages last time I flew my 325a but I did find a loadout that dealt with the overheating.

Just look up Star Citizen Galactic guide with the system name after it.

But anyway: robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/spectrum-dispatch/14437-Virgil-System
robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13061-Jump-Point-Orion-System
robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/spectrum-dispatch/13614-Tiber

With the exception of Tiber, these systems seem to offer apocalyptic vistas.

Are you the same guys every thread? At least post some new pictures, smfh

energy- panther on nose, omnis on wings
ballistic- broadsword on nose S2 tarantulas on wings

The only Low Overheating option I can think of would be monoboating S2 badger repeaters

I want to hunt and kill vanduul for money in the PU

Fuck trading
fuck mining
fuel fueling.

I must kill.

That's an impressive directive.

Reported for potential grieffer. I don't think you'll fit in with the community we're trying to create.

Why not panther on nose, bulldog (or is it badger, I always get the two mixed up) on wings?

Nobody can understand the scorn I hold for such vile creatures. We must wipe them from existence in this dimension.

Jeez who raped and murdered your family?

Fuck the Scythe
Fuck the Blade
Fuck the Stinger

Revenge is best served hot from my ballistic gatlings forged in the deepest pits of hell

I'll be a spacemarauder with you

NO MORE TALK
WE GO IN
WE GO IN WE KILL

I'mma run that through my translator.

Yep.. Deep hard rape fantasy.

>He wants the Vanduul dick.

user starting out to play elite dangerous here

Can I just go outside of 'the bubble' and go and try to find the USS Voyager all alone and get all the exploration money, or is that just a waste of time?

I'd much rather be using the badgers than the OS6s, but the ammo speeds match better.
Omnisky 6 projectile velocity-1970
Panther Repeater projectile velocity-1900
Badger Repeater projectile velocity-2500

And matching targeting pips is critical until they add some way to adjust this stupid system.

Why don't we just call this space sim general?

Are there any other full generals out there that also cover EDG/SC type space sims?

Because there's only two games being discussed here.

Because the threads died when people couldnt just CTRL+f in catalog and type in edg or scg

But the OP pic already says Rogue System is OK, the title would be a lot better than the awkward merged /edg/ and /sc/, and we could attract people who go off to play Freelancer while they wait for SC to be released.

Not even the Hadesians, with their radioactive and fractured celestial bodies of ashes and bloody molten mountains can comprehend the absolute vitriol I hold for this scum called the vanduul.

80mm anarchy will RAIN on their sorry, helpless souls. I will not stop until their teeth are mixed with the glass of what was once their mobile battlestations. I am the havoc of all eternity. This is my royal decree of revenge and ultimate destruction.

Don't be fucking autistic. Go make your own space sim general, see how long it lasts.
