The natural decline of automobile interest in general is probably pretty comparable to the decline in Veeky Forums unique posters.

Personally I find the hobby to be intrinsically rewarding, and self-reflexive. There's little need to seek validation from others, and the desire to share what you know seems to have evaporated entirely.
