Do Catablepons drop the top sceptre half, or have I been wasting my time? I don't know how many hundreds I've killed so far, and nothing but fire runes and gold pieces.

How rare is it supposed to be though? I got every other sceptre piece within 100 kills. I can understand it being a rare drop, but it's not like this would be the first time the /v/scape drop table is wrong.

See, I only had to kill like, 10-20 Ankou for the skull half, that was my easiest one. I spent maybe half an hour altogether with the Minotaurs and Skin Crawlers. I don't even know how many hours I spent on the Catablepons so far (not 4 hours, however). Are they supposed to be so much harder than the other 3? Am I just extremely unlucky with them? It doesn't seem like it should take this long just for one piece for a staff that has 5 charges to an otherwise useless location.

Guys, why is the source for /v/scape closed? It makes absolutely no sense for it to be. There are multiple people in the community with a lot of Java experience who are more than happy to help code for our beloved game, but the proprietary nature prevents them from doing so since they're not in the admin circle jerk.

Open source software is the future and it's the correct path for /v/scape. Updates have slowed recently and it's time to bring in fresh blood to liven it back up. New developers coming in and cleaning up old code, fixing bugs, and adding new content benefits everyone here. There is no reason to oppose this.

Who cares? If anything, that showed that having it open source doesn't matter. The game died within a month, we lost no players, and they didn't profit at all. Even if they did, so what? It makes no difference because /v/scape will always be the best and if it isn't, why would you want to play here? Opposing it on this point is akin to Stockholm syndrome.

Are the developers of /v/scape so insecure with their code that they can't allow it to be scrutinized? Are they packing it with malware or something (I don't think this, I'm just throwing ideas out there)? It's not like they can ever or will ever (legally) make money off of it so there is no reason to hold it so closed to their chest.

What if /v/scape goes down a path that none of the players agree with? Then what? We're stuck with a piece of shit we don't like since it can't be forked and rebuilt by developers who will listen to the community's needs.

I know there are a handful of players with access to the private repository. I encourage those players to download the source and put it in a public repository for all of /v/scape to see, scrutinize, and improve so we can usher in a true golden age.

There was never a problem with vscape being open source in the past but that was before people were taking it to make a profit.
